Disclaimer: Don't own Pretender and its characters, never will. The title was inspired by Pat Benatar's song Fire and Ice. It's not mine either.
Note: I started this in the beginning of October 2000 and thought it would fit well with this weeks Weekly Pretend where we had to write about Miss Parker's thoughts and feelings as she sat alone in front of a fire.. I happen to not like this piece and think its written poorly, but its just for fun.
*Warning- one minor cuss word

,, FIRE & ICE ,,

Ice. Cold. Cunning. Calculated. Frozen. Ice. The human glacier. Bitch. Ice that stole all the warmth that surrounded her. A thief. She heard what people said about her, and maybe they were right.

She stared into the wide open flames that seemed to consume her. Fire. Free spirit. Warmth. Compassion. Feeling. Loving. Tender. Jarod.

Only one person could penetrate her heart and melt its sheath of ice. He had the same power to destroy her. Burn. Flame. Destructive. Jarod.

If only she took the chance and let him into her heart. But it could never be. She was the hunter and he the prey. That's how it would have to be.

She could not let herself care, but she still remembered that little boy who gave her her first kiss. She'd always care for him, who was she kidding. For now, she'd have to separate herself from her feelings. She'd only get hurt.

Jarod knew her, probably better than anyone else in some twisted way. He knew the real Miss Parker. He knew Miranda. But for now, Miranda was gone.

She stared into the fire place for a long time. Despite the heat that the flames radiated, she was cold. What did she expect, she was ice. The ice princess.

She wrapped a quilt around her body. Her mother made it for her when she was a little girl. She took a long swig of her current poison and closed her eyes, the flames still dancing in her mind. Her thoughts of the past were her only warmth and comfort on that lonely, dark February night.
