Chapter One
I traveled down the pristine stalls of Canterwood's barn, my boots clicking and my hands a sweaty mess. I held the sky-blue lead line with tingly fingers as my absolutely enchanting mare clip - clopped behind me. I scanned each stall for the engraved name plate that read, Autumn's Secret, as my mind took in everything around me. The shock of getting into Canterwood had worn off during the rest of summer break, and nerves and excitement had taken it's place.
I was actually here, in this amazing boarding school, and it was going to be my home for the next whole year.I was leaving my parents, my friends, and my home. As far as I knew, I was stepping into a whole new world.
"Here we are Autumn. Doesn't it look cozy?" I turned to my flaxen chestnut arabian mare.
Her sunshine white mane was glossy under the stable lights, and her honey colored body was free of any dirt. Hours of meticulous grooming had paid off. she looked at me with her warm brown eyes, and I immediately felt better. I wasn't going to go through this alone, I had my closest friend with me.
I turned to her stall, it was roomy, and had fresh bedding and and the hay net was full. The sky-blue water bucket was filled as well. I knew she was going to love it here, I wasn't worried about her.
"You get settled, and I'll be back later, hopefully with my roommate. We might even go for a trail ride later. What do you think?"
Autumn snorted and bobbed her head. She stepped into her stall and started munching on hay right away.
"Good girl." I gave her a final pat and left the stall.
I walked back the way I came, smiling shyly at students who sent friendly waves my way. I exited the black and white barn and took the campus map out of my back pocket. My dorm was called Lavender, and it was near Orchard, which was adjacent to Winchester. Some how that name seemed familiar. Isnt that where Sasha Silver once lived?
My thoughts were interrupted by a shadow that loomed in front of me. I looked up and came face to face with a red haired girl that was leading a beautiful black thoroughbred. She raised a perfect eyebrow at me.
"Are you going to move? There are people who actually have somewhere to go right now."
I was stunned by the girl's sharp words. I felt a blush creep up to my cheeks.
"S-sorry." I stepped aside.
"Whatever."
Without as so much as a glance back, the girl walked into the barn, her silk green scarf fluttering in the breeze. Wait. Was that a Hermes? I squinted, but I still couldn't tell.
I moved out of the barn entrance and made my way past the stable area and through the gorgeous campus, trying to find my dorm. Everything about the campus was beautiful and academic looking. I knew the classes were tough, so I had already devoted an hour of studying each day. I would practice at the stables during my free time, and hopefully would reach the advanced team by the end of the year.I walked down the cobblestone path that lead to the Lavender dorm. My things had already been sent up to my room, so I didn't really need to carry anything. I stood in front of the double glass door and took a deep breath.
This was where I was going to live for the rest of the school year. My roomie was in here. Hopefully she would be nice, and nothing like that red-headed girl I had met earlier. Only one way to find out. I grabbed hold of the handles and pulled as I stepped inside, the warm air rushing to meet me.
