Tell Me Why

"You'll have to tell her sooner or later. Just get it over with and stop dwelling on it mate!" said a black-haired boy to his friend.

"But how?!" Ron cried, "Do I just walk up and tell her and make a complete fool of myself?"

Just then Ginny walked into the room and kissed Harry before sitting down.

"Ick." Ron said in disgust. "You could warn me before you do that!"

"Oh hush Ron. So what are you blokes talking about?" Ginny asked.

"How Ron's gonna tell Hermione how he feels." replied Harry nonchalantly.

"Harry! Do you mind?!" Ron exclaimed.

"Oh Ron, it's not as if everyone doesn't know." Ginny said rolling her eyes, Ron looking embarrassed. "So how are you gonna tell her?"

"I don't know" Ron said sadly looking at the ground.

"You know," Ginny said thoughtfully, "I was talking to her the other night as we were watching a muggle movie. She said the most romantic thing a guy could do was to sing to the woman he loves."

"What?! No. I can't sing." Ron hurried.

"Come on Ron. How about you sing the song Dad always sings to Mum."

"Ivy Twine?" Harry asked, "That's actually a pretty good idea Gin."

"No. I can't. I'm rubbish at singing. Why don't I just--"

"Ron! It doesn't matter if you're rubbish at singing! She'll be thrilledto find out you have slightly more romance skills than a mushroom!" Ginny said. Harry laughed and Ginny smiled smugly.

"Ugh… this is stupid." Ron groaned.

" No it's not!" said Harry excitedly. "You could get a house elf to play the fiddle along to your singing!"

"Do you guys really think it'll work?" Ron said hopefully.

"Of course" Ginny said. "She'll love it!"

"Fine." Ron sighed. "I'll do it." then he looked up. "Not a word to the twins though! Not a word!" Harry and Ginny raised their arms in surrender. Then they got up and went off to find Fred and George.

Hermione was sitting under her favorite tree at the Burrow thinking about her friends and the war, when she heard some faint music. She sat up thinking maybe Mrs. Weasley was listening to her radio when she saw a house elf playing a fiddle to the tune of Ivy Twine.

"Wha--" she started, but she was cut off by Ron's voice.

"Tell me why the stars do shine. Tell me why the ivy twines. Tell me why the skies so blue. And I will tell you, why I love you." He looked at her waiting for a response. She looked at him teary and smiling, then she started walking towards him, singing.

"Nuclear fusion makes stars do shine." Ron looked at her confused. " Pho-to-syn-the-sis, makes the ivy twine. Light refraction makes skies so blue." Then she walked right up to him, face to face. "Hormone secretions, that's why I love you!"

He looked at her, blinked then smiled. "You know everything don't you?" he asked.

"Pretty much." she said grinning.

"I love you 'Mione."

"Took you long enough!" she said. He frowned looking at her, unsure what to say. She stood on her toes and kissed him.

"I love you too Ron."
