In the shadows he waited. His large eyes, strangely tinted violet, stood watching as they passed by. Tall ones, short ones, fat ones, and skinny ones all passed him completely oblivious to his dying hunger. They all were easy targets but not desperate enough. He waited. A slight tug pulled him into the sun briefly.

"Wait," he harshly spat towards a wall, "be patient." Reluctantly the tug went away. A moment passed by. He was about to leave for a new spot when suddenly… there she was.

A little southern bell. She walked aimlessly around the street. As she passed by shops she would look in the window to admire her face or fix her overly showy dress.

He made his move.

"Excuse me madam," he spoke slowly as he began to approach her, cane in hand.

As he got a better close at her, the southern bell expression quickly died. Her face was caked with powder and cracked near the corners of her mouth. Red lips and red hair, tinted with enhanced coloring, and her skin seemed at the beginning stages of sagging. She was obsessed with her aging appearance.

She looked him over with a rather disgusted expression.

"Do I know you?"

He was now only feet's away from her. "Allow me to introduce myself," he took off his rather large top hat and gracefully bowed towards her, "I am Dr. Facilier." He grasped one of her painted red claws and gently kissed it. She giggled and took it back, blushing. Swiftly he pulled out a card and gave it to her. She took the card and read it out loud.

"Tarot readings, charms, potions, dreams made real? What one earth do you mean by this?"

He looked around noticing the people that were in the street. Some began to look at him and her with a curious expression on their faces. He began to lead her away from the public.

"Why…," and with that it seemed the magic of language had begun. He held her eyes with his, serenaded her beauty, but always made sure to inform her that her looks were aging fast. With her wide eyed expression and staggered breathing as he mentioned potions of eternal youth, he knew he had won her over.

"So what do you say? Come over to my emporium and there will be the key to eternal youth for just a pretty woman."

The woman seemed eager to except but then her last defensive wall came up.

"Why do you care about a stranger's happiness," she asked in her harsh tone. He simply smiled and said, "Because don't we all deserve a happily ever after."

She asked no more questions and followed him into the dark allies to the adventure that lay ahead of her.
