A/N: I think I speak for many when I say that it was not a surprise to see Shawn Michaels lose to the Undertaker, yet again, at Wrestlemania 26, thus putting his incredible 26-year career to an end. It was heartbreaking for me to watch the Heartbreak Kid make his farewell speech on RAW a few days ago. As a Shawn Michaels fan for many years, I literally had tears in my eyes, and it was obvious so did he. Whether if he'll honor his word and TRULY retire remains a mystery. Either way, I thought I write this poem in honor of him. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks!

Ode to the Heartbreak Kid

In front of thousands in the crowd,

And millions at home,

You took your final bow,

With humility and aplomb.

Twenty-six years of victory and defeat,

You've always held your head high,

Leaving loyal fans in suspense,

On what would happen next.

Bruised, battered, and in pain,

You've always found your game,

Competing with the best of the bests,

Inviting fanatics into your latest conquests.

Defeating the streak was an inevitable,

Sacrificing your career created a grand pop,

But, the Phenom came out on top,

Enchanting a showstopping spectacle.

In your darkest hours, major mistakes were made,

Costing friendships and your career,

One day, you reclaimed your life,

When you were saved by the savior Jesus Christ.

The Rockers, The Kliq, and NWO,

You were a badass member in those groups, except,

You're most defining moment was raising hell with Hunter,

And stealing the show as D-Generation X.

Heartbreak Kid, Mr. Wrestlemania, the Showstopper,

Your names have been etched in our minds for decades,

There are many more yet to come,

A Legend, a future Hall of Famer.

While we respect your decision to leave,

To spend more time with your family,

We hope this isn't the last time your curtain is drawn,

Deep down we want to see you one last time in the ring,

So we can shout these three words in sync:

THANK YOU, SHAWN!
