A/N: This takes place sometime on the meteor. I might turn this into a story/series of drabbles- I do have ideas for other parts- but for now it's just a stand-alone drabble.
Disclaimer: Hussie owns the characters.
She stared at him with amusement in her eyes and a small, barely noticeable, smirk on her lips. Stupid smug human. Of course this situation was his fault. He'd come to her for advice on how to, in human terms, 'win Terezi back from Dave.' The master of teaching about relationships and he couldn't even figure out his own red quadrant. Her suggestion was ludicrous but he went along with it anyway. Why? He hadn't the faintest fucking clue. Why was he still doing this? He, again, had no fucking clue.
He was becoming increasingly more frustrated, with each attempt to not step on her feet failing. Still she remained patient, telling him he was doing fine, giving him small suggestions. She'd spent twenty minutes alone teaching him the proper position for his hands and body. It was embarrassing when she was leading him around the room; he was glad that no one else decided to show up to see her at that point.
"Let's try that again," her tone made him scowl. It was softer and more patient that he could ever hope to manage and it infuriated him. He sighed and straightened, grasping her hand with one of his own and barely touching her waist with the other, like she taught him. She pressed the hand on her waist a bit more firmly to it before resting her hand on his shoulder and waited for him to move. He groaned mentally and took the first step, watching his feet and counting in his head as he moved, leading her around the room in wide circles. He'd finally gotten into a good rhythm without stepping on her feet and felt comfortable enouh to lift his head, scowl still in place. Her smirk was softer and wider,- more of a smile now- approving of his improvement. After a few more turns he slowed to a stop and dropped his hands, taking a step back. Rose let her arms fall to her side's as well.
"Well done, Karkat. You'll sweep her off her feet in no time," her tone was amused, he couldn't tell if she was encouraging him or teasing him. He scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"WHAT-FUCKING-EVER LALONDE," he replied, glancing away from her. They were the first words that weren't a complaint that came from this lesson. His scowl turned to more of a pout. "BUT, UH, THANKS. YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THIS," his tone was a bit quieter than his usual irritated screech but not by much.
Rose simply shrugged, "You asked me to," she replied. Sometimes humans were so weird. Her next words surprised him though. "It's what friends are for."
Yeah, humans were weird. They'd barely spoken to each other since the beginning of their journey on the meteor yet she considered him a friend? He shook his head as she turned away, heading back to her tome, and exited via the transportalizer, back to the computer lab to work up the courage to actually get Terezi to dance.
