Door Sledding

Sorry for any OOCness.

For some reason I've always loved winter. It's not the holidays, my foster families usually didn't want to give me anything they didn't need to. No, I think it's the snow. It covers everything in a blanket of pureness. Until it gets run over by the cars.

Sitting on a bench in Philadelphia I can watch the people around me enjoy the recent snow fall. But, for some reason, I'm not in the mood today.

"Hey car thief." I look up and feel a smile brighten my face. Neal has called me that since our first meeting. It's the strangest pet name I've ever heard. I feel like he'd be offended if I kept calling him a pervert, though.

"Hey stranger." I move from the center of the bench so he can sit down. Instead he holds out his hand.

"Come with me."

"If I want to live?"

He smiles again "Nah, just trust me."

I eye him suspiciously for a second. There's that little mischevious look in his eyes. The kind a teenaged boy gets.

"Alright." I take his hand. We walk together for a moment until we get to the little yellow bug.

"My lady" He holds the door open for me.

"Such a gentleman" I tease before getting in the car. He shuts the door and walks around to get in the driver's side door. When he gets in I turn to ask him what's going on and am confronted by a wooden door between us.

"Neal, what the hell is this?"

"It's a door."

"I see that, did you steal it?!"

"No…" he gives me a wink "I found it."

Against all odds I believe him and decide to trust him about whatever he's planning. I hold my tongue while we drive out of the city, down the high way, and finally arrive in a large town. Here school was apparently not called off since there are no families playing in the snow. Neal turns down a street that leads to a dead end and a condo complex on one side. On the other side is a perfectly coated, very big snow hill.

"Okay what are we doing here?"

Instead of answering he points the door "Help me out with this."

A couple minutes later we are at the top of the snowy hill with a door and one of those flat, foam sleds. Neal positions the sled under the door until only the handles are showing. He sits at the front and pats the spot behind him.

I think about arguing but honestly it's too bizarre. I sit on the door and he lifts his legs off the ground. We start out slowly going down the hill.

"Well this is..fun." I hold back some laughter.

"Wait for it…" Neal looks at me and smiles.

I'm about to smile back when I suddenly feel my stomach drop. In the blink of an eye we're shooting down the hill faster than I've ever gone when sledding. We're halfway down the hill when I spot something at the bottom. A ramp. And Neal is aiming for it.

"What're you.." I trail off as we launch off the ramp. We both tumble off the door mid-flight and land, rolling, in the snow.

I end up lying on top of him. I try to get mad at him but we can't help but break out laughing.

"Well." He stops laughing long enough to ask me "Fun, right?"

"Yeah, fun." I smile before leaning down and giving him a kiss.

Maybe today isn't so bad.
