(A/N: Written half in Science, and half in Civics. In my new, totally awesome, kick-tush Wonder Woman journal. Doesn't have any real time point. Just somewhere after "Home is Where the Heart Stops". Enjoy!)
Summary: A short Castle drabble with a semi-strange metaphor.
Disclaimer: Here's a thought: if I actually owned Castle, this wouldn't really be FANfiction, now would it?
Sheep and Wolf
A Castle/Beckett Fanfic
by Jill Diamond
Extraordinary. That was the word he used to describe her. Whether in text or verbally, she just was. Extraordinary.
He watched her as she pressed the suspect further in the interrogation room. He was behind the one-way window with Ryan and the Captain. The bearded bum looked strong, but she was stronger. She used her trick where she would push the table and breathe on the suspect's face quietly. Castle almost stopped breathing for a moment. Though she had done this gag numerous times, it always took him by surprise. She did it with such emotion and determination, almost as if the suspect was hold her...father hostage.
Castle sighed and closed his eyes briefly. She may have been strong on the outside, but really she was just a scared little sheep inside a beautiful woman's body. Castle was one of the few people who saw the sheep. He understood her need for the walls. If she let the wolf in, her sheep would get eaten; devoured by her own emotions.
She retracted from the suspect's face, barely giving a slight smirk before picking up her notebook of evidence. Castle briskly walked out the door of the observation room to catch up with her.
"Beckett," he called simply.
As soon as she had turned her head in recognition, the dark wisps gently patting her face, he reached out both of his arms and folded her into a hug.
"Um, Castle?" she peeped after a minute.
"Don't talk, just hug," was all he said.
After a soft rolling of the eyes, Beckett raised her hands out from the middle of the embrace and wrapped them around his neck gently.
A few minutes later, after she had told Ryan and Esposito where to go to follow up on the new lead, Beckett was sitting at her desk, and Castle in his chair.
"So, Castle, what was with the PDA back there?" she asked, almost mockingly.
"Because you're a sheep," he answered truthfully, staring into her big, deep eyes with the utmost concern.
"Have you been drinking, Castle?"
The End
(A/N: What? I told you it was short! I was originally going to do this story mainly about how Castle calls Beckett extraordinary ('cuz face it, that IS their word!), but then I got carried away with the whole sheep metaphor and...IDK. I still think it's cute, especially the last line. Hope you like-ied!)
