River Song was tired. She used her vortex manipulator to materialize in the TARDIS and made her way to the Doctor's bedroom, where he was lying in bed, still awake. "Hello, Sweetie." The Doctor looked up. He didn't know how she got into the TARDIS, but he had grown tired of asking, and he certainly wasn't complaining. He smiled at her. "Hello, River Song."

She kicked off her heels and climbed into bed, cuddling against him. He put his arm around her. "River, what's wrong?" She stayed in the same position, not looking up at him. "When did I say something was wrong?"

The Doctor pulled her closer. "You said it when you said 'Hello Sweetie' and your eyes didn't dance like they normally do. You said it with the absence of your normal playful flirting. You said it when you got into bed and all but buried your face in my arm. You said it with that little sigh that you thought I didn't hear. And I'm asking you, Melody Pond, What is wrong?"

She closed her eyes. "It just happened. For me, it just happened."

"What? What just happened?"

She pulled his arm closer. "Manhattan."

He sighed. "River. I am so sorry."

"I'll see them again," she said, trying to comfort him.

"It doesn't matter," he whispered, stroking her curls. "They were your parents. It still hurts to lose them." She turned inward, gripping him in a tight hug. "It's okay," he whispered. Some might not know what he meant by that. Maybe "It's okay, they're happy now, or, "It's okay, I'm here for you. " But she knew what he meant.

"It's okay to cry."
