Hello all! I finally caught up on all my work - and I mean every last ounce - so I thought I'd treat myself, and write a bit. Review Please!
They followed her in every step she took.
The spirits, the memories, the pain; they were all there, all the time, forever and ever.
First, it was overwhelming; the urge to cry, to scream, to make it stop was there always. It dimmed after that, as she grew to recognize their presence, and their role in her life. There were times, still, when everything just hurt, and she couldn't understand it, because physically, nothing was wrong.
Random times would pass when they did not appear at all, and she hated those times as much as the normal ones, because without her ghosts, what was she?
Later on, she cherished them.
She knew it was wrong, and unnatural, and they should have gone away; after all, humans were meant to heal, were they not?
But she didn't.
She couldn't.
So she kept them close.
In the end, they did stay with her.
There were days when they were in the back of her mind, days when her life was too busy or too complicated or too kind for her thoughts to turn to them.
But they were always, always, there.
Other days, they overwhelmed her, and it was those days that she would dress in dark slacks and a blouse and pull her hair back and set her manipulator to random, and she would sit and watch as stars exploded or armies fell or families began anew.
Because those days, she couldn't handle her own life, so she borrowed another's.
On good days, though, they were just there. They guided her though the darkness, and praised her in the light. They taught her the secrets of the universe – the secrets of her heart – and she survived. For in the end, in the very end, they were all she had, so she kept them close.
They followed her in every step she took.
There we are! Short, and dark, but hopefully more to come soon. Thanks for the reading(and reviewing)!
