Cassie looked at her neighbor, Kendall sadly. He was her best friend since she moved here, 8 years ago. And now she was moving across the country with her mom and dad.
"I'm gonna miss you, Kendall.", Cassie said, tears threatening to fall.
"I'm gonna miss you too, Cas", He said pulling her into a hug.
"Is it okay to cry?", she croaked into his chest.
"Totally." He croaked back. She could tell he had been holding in his tears as well. They both stood there in Cassie's driveway, letting the tears fall.
"Cassie, Honey, five more minutes.", her dad said softly. He knew how quickly her and Kendall had bonded when they first moved here. Kendall was the first person to give Cassie a chance there. The pair pulled back from each other and he looked at her.
"I have something for you." He said. He took something out of his pocket and gave it to her. She looked at it. It was a small box. Cassie opened it to see a heart shaped locket with 'I Love You' on it. Inside the locket was a picture of a 9 year old Cassady Mayne and 9 year old Kendall Schmidt sitting on a branch, Cassie kissing his cheek.
She smiled and more tears fell. He touched her cheek to wipe away the tears.
More tears fell, more tears fell.
"Cassie", Right as she looked, she was pulled into a passionate kiss. She pulled back and looked at him.
"I love you too, Kendall." She said.
"Cassie, we've got to go." your mom said.
More tears fell, more tears fell.
Cassie looked at Kendall and he forced a smile.
"Go.", She gave him a quick hug and got in the car. As she sat in the car, she looked out the window to see Kendall waving goodbye. Her eyes kept focus on him until finally he was out of sight.
More tears fell, more tears fell.
