Noticed: One Shot

Rachel Berry.

The Star of Broadway.

No... The QUEEN of Broadway.

Yeah... She liked the sound of that.

She was rudely awakened from her fantasy when she was hit in the face with not one, but two slushies. One red, one blue. Someone obviously thought that purple suited her. She wiped her eyes and sighed, reaching into her locker and pulling out the spare clothes she always had with her. She travelled towards the girls' room and changed at lightning speed. As she exited the bathroom, she bumped straight into Finn Hudson. Finn Hudson. The star quarterback she had admired from afar for the last few months. For a moment her heart skipped a beat. Wait... was he actually smiling at her? She felt like pinching herself to see if she was dreaming, but decided against it as it might make her look a little crazy.

"Um, I'm sorry about the slushie facial." She blinked at him with her big brown eyes. He was surprised at the size of them. Kind of like two large saucers. Brown saucers.

"That... That was you?" He rubbed the back of his head at her question.

"Well... Not me directly but... I kinda watched from the sidelines. That reminds me, I gotta go, because if the guys see me talking to you they'll probably shoot me with a paintball gun." Her brow furrowed for a moment, and she concentrated on his face.

"If you want my opinion, I think you have a right to speak to whoever you want. You're just too afraid of ruining your reputation." She ventured boldly. He stammered a little, and then turned and walked away.

How could someone he barely knew be so inside his head?

. . . . . .

"Wait, Finn Hudson spoke to you? Mr Big Shot? The hottest guy on the football team?" Rachel glared at Kurt when he referred to Finn as 'the hottest guy.' Hummel was already her competition when it came to singing, she didn't want to compete for someone's affections as well. But she could relish in the fact that Finn had spoken to her, not Kurt.

She ignored the little voice in the back of her head that was telling her that if Kurt had been the slushied one, he would've probably talked to him too.

"Yes, actually." She replied, with a hint of contempt hidden in her sweet but annoying voice. "And he smiled at me." Ok, it was a cheap shot, but it was worth it. Kurt just rolled his eyes and moved his perfectly quaffed fringe out of his face.

. . . . . .

Finn lingered outside the school nervously. He had had to convince Quinn that he was in detention, which wasn't too hard considering he'd flunked Math yet again. She just bought that he needed some coaching. That's when he saw her. Miss Rachel Barbara Berry. At least, that's what the register he'd taken a sneak peak at in Figgin's office had said her name was. He breathed out and followed her down the pathway.

"Hey, Rachel?" She stopped and turned around. He was surprised by the shock on her face. At least he thought it was shock. That expression immediately changed when she pulled her animal sweater a little bit lower. Animal sweaters. Funny, she was probably the only one who could pull it off. His attention turned to her boobs. Well. What was there.

"Yes?" He snapped out of it.

"I... I erm, was wondering if you'd... like to... well... hang out?" She smiled a sort of triumphant smile.

"Yes. I would. Shall we say breadsticks, Friday at 7?" Wow. She took control quickly.

"Erm. Sure."

"Good. I'll see you then." Rachel turned on her heel and practically marched away, with a very confused Finn staring after her. He was pretty sure he was the one who was supposed to pick where they were going and when...

Rachel pulled her phone out of her pocket, and then dialled a number.

"Yes, hello, Kurt? I have some gossip. Call Mercedes."

. . . . . .
