"I don't want to die"
Tony felt helpless. He couldn't move. His chest burned as if it had been attacked by hundreds of fire-ants.
The pain came in waves, eased off a bit, but as soon as he started to relax a bit it would come back. And each time it got worse.
His legs didn't feel too good either. Raw meat. That's what they felt like. Tony was sure, if he'd be able to move enough to take a look,
he would see raw meat.
He was in cold sweat. He had never imagined this could be so painful.
"Abby, I feel like I'm dying…"
"You'll be okay."
He heard Abby's reassuring voice. He wished she would keep talking, so he had something other than pain to concentrate on.
His head felt strange too. A warm, sticky fluid seemed to cover it. Maybe he had been scalped?
Tony felt miserable.
"Abby….."
"Yes, Tony?"
"I don't think I can take much more!"
A new flash of pain on his chest interrupted him.
"Poor baby….We're almost done."
"Are you sure, she'll like it?"
"Yeah. She's my best friend. I know what she likes!"
"I'm not sure about this anymore!"
"It's a little late for that now, don't you think?"
"I should have asked you what exactly you meant by "a slight change of style" before I agreed to this."
"Maybe you should have done that. But you were so exited about finally meeting Sharon, you'd have done it anyway….Olay, done.
Now you go take a shower and we'll present you to the others."
The others. Tony was just glad he would meet the rest of the team with his clothes on. He could easily imagine the kind of comment Kate
would make about him getting a full-body cold-wax treatment….
Half an hour later he entered the squad room.
Kate saw him first. She stood speechless, followed him going over to his desk, open mouthed, only her eyes moving.
When he sat down, Gibbs looked up. Since Tony wore his usual clothes, he figured it was his hair that made his boss blink his eyes in
disbelief.
But Gibbs wouldn't be Gibbs if he didn't recover pretty fast.
"Well, Tony, it needs some getting used to, but…"
He showed one of his famous smirks.
"Blue is definitely your colour."
