Sithis' Fall
I told him you can't stop the Dark Brotherhood. Never could.
-Emperor Titus Mede II
It was about 5 years ago, in the year 4E 211, 10 years after the Dark Brotherhood had been restored to its former glory. I was a follower of Sithis and many lives were lost through my hands. I regret my ways and I wish I was different. It all started on a cold winter's day in the month of Evening Star, I had just killed an officer in the Stormcloak army who had been a ruthless man. He asked me to destroy the Brotherhood while he died from his wounds. Later that day I was reading one of the most valued artifacts of the Dark Brotherhood, one of the journals of the madman Cicero. He had written that Sithis was just as powerful as the Dragonborn himself and could be defeated through a simple ritual. Was this what the harlequin assassin had been trying? I slept on this thought throughout the rest of the month when finally one event changed my mind. On the 7th of Morning Star I was given a huge contact, I had to kill my own leader, Nazir for a reward of 50,000 Septims. Who had this kind of money? As The Five Tenets had been abandoned it was not against rules to commence with the contract. However it was frowned upon by all other honourable organisations. If others found out I would have almost no chance at being accepted into the other guilds. It was a hard choice but after remembering the journal I decided to do it.
