The Great Spinach Incident

I made a reference to this in my last story and I decided that I might as well explain it. This is also the year of the Great Prank War where the Marauders had an epic prank war amongst themselves, every Marauder for himself. Some other students tried to compete but they pretty quickly gave up.

James smirked over at Sirius who was sitting across the table from him before glancing up at the Head Table. Phase one was about to begin.

Suddenly all of the spinach at the head table flew out of the bowls and started to fly in circles around the Hall. Soon, the rest of the spinach in the room joined it. The circle began to grow smaller and smaller, moving until it was directly over the Slytherin table. Then suddenly it froze and spread out across the entire Slytherin table, hovering menacingly over the heads of the students.

Suddenly, the spinach began to Kamikaze dive bomb the students. Several Slytherin girls shrieked and ran from the hall. They were followed by mini spinach clouds.

The rest of the day was filled with great entertainment. Each Slytherin student had a mini spinach cloud following them around the school. Whenever one of them tried to banish their cloud, it's size multiplied by ten and any attempt to destroy it resulted in it's size multiplying by twenty. At random points throughout the day, the spinach clouds would turn into giant funnel clouds spinning at rapid speeds and totally destroying the student's hair followed by a dive-bombing run into the student's face. Then suddenly, as the student walked out of the Great Hall following dinner, the spinach vanished into the darkness.

The incident was fondly referred to by the student of Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor for the next several years, including several years after the Marauders left Hogwarts, as the Great Spinach Incident. In fact, Harry even heard Molly Weasley talking about it one day while visiting the Weasleys and was delighted to learn that his father had been involved.

The only bad thing that came from this incident was that Professor McGonagall got over her aversion to assigning the Marauders detention and she gave them each a weeks detention for it. She did however divide them between the four heads of houses because she trusted each of the House heads to not use the cruciatus curse on a student.
