His eyes shone with the beauty and watered towers making little melodies quietly, every musical note as if it were a large orchestra. In every sound, the towers sparkled in the most beautiful and unimagined colors.
He knew that there was no more wonderful gift to give. The last gift he could give. It was the last time that he would see her. And so it would be the first time would find her in his past incarnation, and the flow of time would still the same. He could change everything. Could not ask her to go to the library, I could say everything that happened. But doing it so would result in never finding her. River Song never would be who saved thousands people in the library.
They would never have actually met for the first time.
River looked astonished all that beauty from the towers, periodically looking at him, that he could not even simulate happiness. Only exuded sadness. From someone who had a secret and was worried. He was not ok. He was not the king's ok. Not now. Maybe in fact never had been.
When the towers went out he knew the moment had finally arrived.
"I have one thing you will need." Said, as he took a sonic screwdriver from his tuxedo. Hers. He would have sad "I have one thing that will save your life." but was afraid of giver her spoilers.
"But ... why?" - She definitely did not understand why she was getting that, why now. She knew that the Doctor knew her future. She knew that the tour of the library would be a dangerous thing. She just did not know it would cost her life.
"Shh ... Spoilers." He said, and now, her heart was clad with concern, for him. Knowing that even though he never in any way has even commented on what happens in the library. She knew there was not something good. And that was all spoiler she needed.
And he wept while dancing, listening to the universe singing to River Song sleep.
