Walking down the streets of Kyoto with two of his friends was a young man who had short spiky dark brown hair that could sometimes be mistaken for black hair. He was wearing a black school uniform that was currently unbuttoned, revealing the maroon shirt underneath it, and black pants to match it.
He had a slender yet powerful looking build due to him playing baseball, and hazelly purple eyes.
The young man was Issei Hyoudou, and his two companions were Takashi Komuro and Hisashi Igou.
Takashi Komuro, the man who was walking on Issei's left had spiky brown hair as well, but his hair was a tad bit shorter than Issei's. He was wearing his black school pants, but unlike Issei or Hisashi he didn't wear his blazer, he just wore a simple white T-shirt. He had brown eyes that rivaled chocolate and slender build as well due to him playing baseball too.
The third man who was on Issei's right wore their school uniform but had it buttoned up; he had silver hair, and dark brown eyes that could charm any girl. He was a bit more bulkier compared to his friends, but that was because of him doing Karate, and lifting weights.
The three of them had just left a mixer and even though most people couldn't see it the three of them were shedding tears.
The reason why they were shedding tears is because they had sacrificed their chance of getting girlfriends.
Now how did they lose their chance of getting girlfriends? Well, it was because Issei had purposefully poured his entire drink that he just got refilled onto the girl he was interested in.
What caused him to do this was because the girl had taken their fourth friend's ticket to a concert that he wanted to go to.
Their fourth friend was in love with this singer and had spent months saving up money to get a front row seat to one of her concerts, so when he told them that this singer was more important to him than they are, it bothered the girl.
Issei didn't think what he did was wrong. The girl did something unforgivable.
She stopped their friend from going to something he loved, and because of that, he felt like it was his duty as his friend to serve justice upon her.
It sucked though because the girl was hot as hell and he wouldn't of minded losing his virginity to her.
"I understand that Morita is our friend, " Takashi started with a sniff before wiping his nose with his arm. "but did you really have to do that?"
As he said the second part, he grabbed ahold of Issei and looked him dead in the eye.
"Y-Yeah, she was a bitch." He said with tears rolling down his cheeks. "Morita had told us about this concert a week ago, she fucked his plans up, so I had to do that!"
Hisashi who had came to a stop a few feet in front of them released a cry of despair as he fell to the ground. "Fuck your moral code Issei, this was our chance to ascend to men!"
Dozens of bystanders had stopped what they were doing to see what the commotion was.
"It's not my fault she did that!" Issei yelled with anger as he glared at Hisashi's back, he was still in Takashi's grasp. "She shouldn't have taken Morita's ticket!"
"I know, I know, but still..." Hisashi moaned. "I had finally gotten us a chance of getting girlfriends, and you threw it away..."
"We'll get them next time Hisashi," Takashi said as he let go of Issei and appeared right next to the silver-haired male with his arm over his shoulder.
"You're assuming those girls would want to see our faces again." Hisashi murmured as he glanced at his friend.
"He meant at the next mixer," Issei said causing Hisashi and Takashi to look up and see Issei looking up at the sky, a tiny grin written on his face. "sure this was a fail, but those girls weren't worth it in reality. They fucked Morita over, and would probably do the same thing to us if we pissed them off. In all honesty, I don't regret what I did at all."
"I don't actually hate you for what you did Issei." The silver-haired boy stated as he got up to his feet. "I just feel like I wasted some of my life doing nothing now. I thought Mika was going to be the one, and I thought she would say something to her, but instead, she cheered her friend on for doing that. Like that was really cruel of her and something I didn't see coming."
"Women are full of surprises, aren't they?" Takashi said after releasing a sigh and rising to his feet. "It sucks that they're sometimes wolves in sheep's clothing."
"Yeah." Both Issei and Hisashi said in unison.
"The night's still young, so how about we go to a karaoke place or something?" Takashi asked as he looked at his two friends.
"And sing our hearts out? Maybe." Issei self-questioned.
"Wanna just roam the town then? It's been a while since we just did nothing except going from store to store and see what they have in them." Hisashi stated with a small grin.
"I'm okay with that." Issei said. "Besides maybe we might run into some girls and get lucky."
"You, you might get lucky. You're apparently the hottest and cutest out of all of us, so you might have a chance of getting a girlfriend, but we most likely will not." Takashi said as he cast Issei a glare.
"That's-"
"Yeah, but his social skills are shit," Hisashi said with a grin, stopping Issei mid-sentence. "seriously I don't understand that. You get labeled as a hot guy at school, but for some reason, you can't seem to talk to any girls in a romantic way. You fucking suck ass when it comes to socializing with them."
"Hey stop ganging up on me!" Issei nearly yelled in annoyance. "You're making me sound like I'm some pretty guy who can just pick up girls with a wag of his finger."
"Well, you probably could if you knew how to speak to them..." Takashi muttered in a voice loud enough for Issei to hear.
"Yeah, and you probably could get multiple girlfriends as well if you played your cards right." Hisashi agreed in a tone barely above a whisper.
"Tch, whatever, let's just go." Issei said with a huff.
As the three high school students entered the shop, a door chime echoed throughout the place.
The store was barely lit, and had bookshelves up against the walls with the shelves being full of books. Stands here and there with glass bottles on them filled with liquids, and so many more things.
The three of them had been out for a few hours going to stores they had found interesting and had planned on ending their night at the last store when Hisashi spotted this place.
Issei didn't know what's so interesting about it, but apparently from what Hisashi said it's a mystic like shop.
He was at first confused what Hisashi meant, but after a brief explanation Issei learned that it's supposed to hold scrolls from ancient times, charms and potions that would increase your luck, and a lot more nonsense.
Issei didn't believe in that type of stuff. He didn't think there was a God up there watching everyone, at least not anymore. If anything he thought that God had abandoned humanity and no longer cared what happens on earth.
For if there was a God, then why was there so much injustice in this world? Why does he allow people to go shoot up a school full of children? It didn't make sense to him, and what annoyed him the most was when people tell him that God set them on this path or something like that.
It was nonsense to him. From his view, that means that school shooters, rapist, murders, all of them have that as their answer to why they committed their crime.
"God told me to do this. I was just following his orders."
Fucking bullshit is what he thought. Gods didn't exist, and if they did exist, then they didn't deserve to be worshipped or prayed to at all.
As the door closed behind Takashi, the woman who was sitting behind a desk reading a magazine greeted them by saying, "Welcome to the Crystal Ball, how may I help you, gentlemen?"
"Uh, we were just curious about this place, and wanted to look around if that's okay with you?" Hisashi answered, deciding it was best if he was the speaker for their group since he was the one that suggested that they check this place out.
"Of course, if there's anything you find interesting just let me know." She said with a smile.
That being said, the three students went their separate ways and began checking the place out.
Issei immediately headed to the back of the store. When they were entering the place he had assumed that the store had their lights dimmed, but the reason why it was dark was because the light source was candles. There were no lights on at all.
Upon reaching the back, Issei was greeted by the sight of numerous objects. There were scrolls, wands, and staves that looked like they were made out of metal and wood, and purplish-white crystals that he found to be interesting.
Most of these items were in glass casings with looks on them which caused Issei to smile a bit.
"This makes me feel like I'm playing Skyrim, and my goal is to steal this stuff." He whispered to himself as he stared at the items.
Some of the items weren't in the glass casings, and one of the things that gained Issei's interest was a golden lantern.
It wasn't lit and looked pretty ordinary, so Issei wondered why it was here. Unless it had the ability to see through fog or something, he doubted it would be useful.
Picking up the lantern with his left hand, Issei brought it to his face and began inspecting it.
He turned it this way, and he turned it that way, opened it up while looking for something interesting on it like a phrase or something, but there was no such thing on it at all.
"Huh, I guess it's just an antique like those daggers?" Issei said with a small frown as he set it down and glanced at the black knives that were in a glass lockbox next to it.
The blades looked like old sacrificial daggers which were pretty cool looking in Issei's mind, but besides that, they weren't that interesting. In fact, after having a second look around Issei found all of this stuff to be pretty lame.
"I don't even know how Hisashi finds this stuff to be cool." He said aloud as he turned around, and began to walk away towards Takashi who was holding a large bottle in his hands.
Once Issei had his back to it, the lantern he'd picked up flickered back to life with an unnatural purple flame. The two small, black orbs spaced evenly in its center moved as though they were a pair of eyes watching him walk away.
It watched him for several seconds and once it heard the person's name it disappeared, making it look like the lantern never lit up.
Upon entering his home, Issei was welcomed to a heavenly smell as well as the sound of something being fried. With a small smile forming, Issei took off his blazer and shouted. "Grandpa I'm home!"
His grandfather in response shouted back to him. "Welcome home Issei!"
Issei didn't shout his response. He instead made his way to the kitchen. Their house was a simple two-story one and had been a part of the Hyoudou family for about a century.
His grandfather and grandmother who had unfortunately passed away last year were supposed to be giving it to his mom and dad, but his mom had died giving birth to him, and his father had left shortly after that.
He didn't know much about his dad, but from what his grandparents said he was a great man who loved his mother a lot. This bothered Issei a lot when he was younger, and that was because he wanted to know what his father was like and why he wasn't here, but not once did his grandparents reveal anything to him besides him being a great man. Upon entering middle school he eventually stopped caring about his dad, and assumed that his father was a spy or something along those lines.
His grandparents, however, didn't have any problems talking about his mother though. They told him countless things about her, like her favorite song, her favorite food, her favorite movie, they told him everything about her.
As Issei entered the kitchen, Issei put his blazer on his shoulder, and marched passed his grandfather while greeting him again. He had to wash his uniform, so he decided it was best to put his uniform in the washer as he eats dinner, and then put it in the drier before taking a shower.
His grandfather greeted Issei again, and as he entered the laundry room, his grandfather called out to him. "How was your day at school Issei?"
"It was alright nothing really interesting happened today," Issei answered as he kicked off his shoes, and unbuckled his pants.
"I see..." Came his grandfather's response.
"I did go to a mixer with a couple of friends though..." Issei said after a few seconds as he finished taking off his pants.
His grandfather perked up hearing this. "Oh? How did that go?"
"Um, it didn't go well if I'm being completely honest." Issei hesitantly admitted as he took off his socks and put the clothing into the washing machine.
"Really?" His grandfather asked as he poked his head out of the kitchen and watched Issei turn on the washing machine after putting detergent in it.
"Yeah," He said as he scratched the back of his neck and exiting the laundry room in only his boxers and maroon shirt. "I was interested in this one girl, but she was a bi-I mean bad person, so I ended up pouring my drink all over her."
Issei was about to say, 'bitch' but quickly stopped and corrected himself. His grandparents weren't a fan of him cussing or anything like that, so he promised them that he would refrain from cussing in front of them. He also told his grandmother in her final moments that he'd try to quit cussing for good, but it was hard for him to stop.
"I'm assuming the reason must have been pretty good to do such an act to a lady." His grandfather stated as he returned to the stove.
"I believe it was," Issei confessed causing his grandfather to shoot him a look in which made Issei avert his eyes away from his parental figure.
After a couple of seconds of glaring at Issei, his gaze softened. "Well if you truly believe that, then I guess it's okay, but you shouldn't make that a habit. Even if they deserved it."
"I know, but what she did really got on my nerves." Issei rebutted as his attention reverted back to his grandpa.
"Okay then, what did she do to that upset you?" His grandfather questioned.
"She stole Morita's ticket, and prevented him from going to a concert that he wanted to see." Issei declared with a serious look. "Morita had spent months saving up his money to get a front row seat to this singer's concert, and because he considers that to be more important, so she stole his ticket."
"... Alright, I would have done that too." His grandpa admitted after several seconds of silently staring at Issei.
"Yeah, my reason was good." Issei said.
"That I will agree with it."
It was late in the night.
Both Issei and his grandfather were asleep.
The Hyoudou household was quiet and didn't have a single light on, signifying to the neighbors that they had retired for the night.
Standing right before the front door though was a small purple ball of fire.
It had two black orbs in the center of it, and was gazing at the wooden door.
The two black orbs that looked like eyes closed for a second, making it look like it blinked before bouncing towards the door.
Without any effort, the ball of fire reduced its size to where it could be considered a cinder, and squeezed through the cracks of the door.
Once inside, it returned to its original size and began to look around for something.
After looking around a bit, it found a stairway that led to what it believed the second floor.
The ball of fire blinked again before making its way up the flight of stairs.
Halfway through climbing the stairs it picked up someone snoring.
However, the snore didn't belong to the person it was looking for.
It was looking for Issei.
Once reaching the top of the stairs, the ball of fire blinked once again. There was a tall door in front of it that was open, revealing a bunch of towels and blankets.
There was another door to its right, but that was where the snoring was coming from.
Turning to its left a bit, the ball of fire saw two more doors right next to one another.
Again it blinked before bouncing towards the doors.
The closest door was slightly cracked open, and from a quick glance, it could tell that the room was a bathroom which meant...
Issei was in the next room.
With its fire getting slightly bigger, the purple flames moved towards the door and slipped underneath the door, nearly causing it to catch on fire due to its excitement.
Once inside the room, the flame was greeted by the sight of a few dressers, a nightstand with a lamp on it, a desk with a gaming chair, and a bed with what it was looking for on it.
The small purple flame blinked again before changing its shape.
As the flame became something else, the room began to light up causing Issei to release a small groan as he rolled over and pressed his head into his pillow.
"Grandpa what do you want..." He moaned as his eyes slightly peeled open only for him to see a flaming like bird hovering in front of him.
"Wha-"
(Revan's AN): Okay, in all honesty I didn't know how Incinerating anthem worked, so I kind of thought it would be kind of cute if it was just you know a small ball of fire with two black orb-like eyes. I know it can be whatever it wants, but I felt like when its you know in its docilish mode that should be its form, and if I'm being more honest, I didn't know how to have him get 'infected' with Incinerate Anthem. Now, why did it take a liking to Issei? Who knows, but I. Anyways, its a prologue, and as you can guess by the title this guy is going to be apart of the Grigori. I hope you all enjoy it, I probably would of gone longer, but I really need to work on my other stories as well. See you guys in my next updates.
Oh, I have thought of the pairings by the way, but nothing is set in stone yet.
