Chapter 1: Confustion

A raindrop fell from the sky, the clear, cloudless blue sky, and onto the blade of my sword. It slid down until it hit the hilt, then dripped down the side and onto the grass. I bent down onto the dry, yellow grass and looked up at the sky. No more rain. Just one drop. I stood up and kept walking, tucking my sword back into its sheath. I could sense the weather getting colder by the second, but not naturally. I got chilly in my green, sleeveless top. I had no cloak so I would have to tough it out until I could find one. The wind started to pick up making me even colder. There was a word that echoed in the back of my head, magic, but I had no idea what that meant. My pointed ears got cold so I wrapped my auburn hair around them and my pale face. Every where I went, the humans, as they're called, had round ears, but mine were pointed, causing me to be forced out of the villages for being different. I didn't know why, but I guess ears are important. They called me some not-so-nice sounding things like 'Traitor' 'Selfish' and 'Elf'. I didn't know what these meant, but they sounded rude. They would throw pebbles at me and yell 'get lost!' until I left. This made it hard for me to get food and a cloak. I didn't know what I did, but it must have been pretty bad. Suddenly, I sensed a presence nearby. My tattoos turned white and I knew I was in danger. I pulled out my sword and stood in a defense position. I saw a swift, dark movement in a tree.
"Who's there? I'm not afraid to face you." I called to the creature. There was no response. I then felt the presence moving behind me. I turned around.
"Found you." I was looking at a short, human-like creature with a black body suit. It was female. Her face was half-way covered with a black scarf. "Now tell me who you are. There's no point in running. I've seen you." My silver blade was pointed at her chest. She didn't make one slight movement.
She sighed and said, "You caught me," her voice was calm for someone with a sword pointed at her chest. "My name is not relevant. I am but a mere traveler." The wind blew her raven hair. It was medium in length and had a shaved side. It was so dark it had a slight blue hue. She had several small braids on the inside of her hair.
"Tell me who you are." I tried to keep my voice clear and strong, but it sounded shaky.
"If you must know, my name is Brenea." She said. She scratched her ears, which were small, black cat-like ears on the top of her head.
"Your ears… they are… animal?" I asked.
"Yours are Elf."
"Ugh! What is this 'Elf' thing? I'm sick of people insulting me! Your hair is Elf!" I yelled. She just laughed.
"'Elf' is your race, your species. Mine is the Ajleaan tribe, the animal-folk. You are an Elf. It is not some form of insult. It is who you are. You can tell by your ears and tattoos."
"Are there more? Elves I mean."
"Thousands, there is a whole country of Elven-kin. But they're not so popular. Well, I'll be off. I had fun telling you what you are." Her eyebrows turned into a confused sort of entanglement, then chuckled and ran off. I did nothing to stop her.
I guess I would find this country of Elven-kin.
