I've given up my formal role and now the Phantom is nothing more than a mere ghost. Only two people know that I still live under the Opera House, Madame Giry and her daughter Meg. Chapter 1 - The Unexpected Meeting
Erik's P.O.V.
It was a cool, yet pleasant night and I had decided to leave this prison, my so called home. As I walked the empty streets of Paris, I started to enjoy being above ground. While walking through a park, I glanced down at the path in which I fallowed, and noticed a flyer. I slowly bent down and picked it up, reading what it had to say; Freak Show. I knew all too well what that meant, a prison for people who were different, like me. People that are out cast and who are consider not worthy of a life or;..LOVE. Love that is never given is worse than dying. I threw the paper down and went on my way, trying to shut the memories out of my past.
~ "Please…someone help me…." I cried while laying on the cold hard ground. "Well, well, well, look what we have here boys." "He is hideous. He will be perfect for our freak show." "We can call him the 'Devil's Child." These men were laughing at me. Why won't they just help me? My world went black. The next thing I know is that I'm locked in cage. The beatings are daily, I rarely get any food. I wish I was dead. ~
While I walked down the lonely street minding my own business, I did expect that my life was about to change forever. Suddenly out of nowhere something hit me, almost knocking me off my feet. When I finally found my balance, I looked to see what had hit me. To my surprise it was a young lady, who looked scared as if she was running from something.
I pulled her up off the ground and help her gain her balance.
"Oh, sir, I'm so sorry;" she said as she started to plead, "please forgive me I didn't see you. Please forgive me. Please don't strike me, I didn't see you."
I was shocked; she thought that I was going to strike her. "I'm not going to strike you. What would give you that idea?"
"I've always been strike for doing something wrong. D-did I just hear y-you that weren't going to strike me?" she said with a looking shocked.
"I did. I'm not going to hit you, but will you tell me what you are running from?"
"Well I'm running from my master. He forced me to dance and sing in the Freak Show. He was very mean to me. Finally, I couldn't stand it anymore, so I ran away." she said while starting to look around, as if looking for something.
I was shocked how this beautiful, young lady could be in the freak show. For some reason I knew I had to help her. "Miss, may I help you? Give you a place to stay where no one will find you. I will give you protection."
"You would do that for me? Why?" she asked.
"Yes, I would, for I know what it is like to be running away from the freak show."
We heard a yell from the distance.
"Come we must be go, now, before they find you. But please make me a promise. Promise me that you want be afraid of me and afraid of where I live."
"I promise," she said, "how could I be afraid of the man that is helping me."
I offered her my hand she shook her head no. She had a look of fear in her eyes that if I touched her she would die.
"Come. Follow me." was all I said.
