I stop to catch my breath
And I stop to catch your eye
No need to second-guess
That you've been on my mind
I dream days away, but that's okay..
Touko looked up from her book. She was sitting in the Pokémon Center, waiting for a familiar green-haired boy to finish talking to another boy. He had messy brown hair and was wearing a red and black cap. He seemed to have an interest in N, which made Touko somewhat mad. She shook off the feeling. "Hey, N! We need to get going soon!" she said, pointing to her white watch around her wrist. She rolled her eyes at the thought of actually being jealous of this kid. N smiled softly, turned to hug the other boy, and went back to Touko.
It's like I want to hear a silent sound
And then hold it in my hand
But a rose won't blossom from a ground
Of desert sand, but I like to pretend that..
N couldn't help but smile as he watched an excited Touko stare with gleaming eyes up at the ferris wheel. "This brings back so many memories," she murmured, glancing at N with a tint of pink on her face. N thought back to last year, when he first rode the ferris wheel with Touko. They were 14 then, now 15. N and Touko began traveling together for a while now. He looked down, seeing a white rose growing from the ground. Curious, he pulled it from the ground carefully. "Touko," he muttered, and shoved the flower towards her. She blinked, and took it quietly. "Touko, you've changed something in me," he mumbled, looking down. But of course she didn't hear him.
One day I'll turn around, I'll
see your hand reach out
I'm only fooling myself, oh
But maybe when you smile
It means you'd stay awhile
Just maybe you'd save me now
Touko smiled sadly at her friend. Her best friend. N had changed, but most of all he had changed something in her too. She knew this day would come, but her heart wasn't ready to let go of him. When he turned to walk away, out of her life, she whimpered. "N," she murmured. N turned around and searched her face for any clue of what she was thinking. "N, I want you to stay," she whispered, not wanting him to leave her. N just chuckled. "Touko, I'll explore with you as long as you want me to," his eyes twinkled as he said this. Touko's expression of pain shifted, and she smiled warmly.
And she knew she had a friend that wouldn't leave for the world.
