Author's Note: Any one who wants to play in this universe may do so with two exceptions: We ask that you give Queen Cindy and ourselves, Pirates Turner and Sparrow, proper credit for the creation of this AU and we require that you absolutely do not kill or greatly injure any of these characters, the latter being due to the fact that we do not want such a thing to come back and bite our sweet children. Yes, the beings who are mixed with the Seven to make this new breed of heroes, as well as the other characters, are very real and dear to our hearts. :-) They have all already been rescued from various dangers and perils in the world, and we do not wish to have to do so again nor would we ever wish such tragedy upon our loved ones. We have pictures of the kids used herein if any one would like to see.
It'd been some years since he'd last been caught out in a storm of this ferocity. Thunder blasted. Winds howled. Lightning slashed the night sky. Rain poured down, plastering his Siamese fur to his small body and making him cold, wet, sticky, and - his furry, black nose crinkled - smelly.
His stomach rumbled almost as loudly as the storm. JD tried not to think about when he'd last eaten, his starvation and exhaustion, or the memories haunting him. It was on the latter that he failed as he recalled the last violent storm in which he'd been caught. He had felt the bad weather moving in and hadn't wanted to go out, but his stepbrother had gotten his way as always.
It had also been Andre's fault they'd stayed out so late and his own intoxication that had caused him to fall off his horse and roll over the edge of a cliff before JD could stop him. JD remembered how he'd tried to save him and then gone running for help. He had been so scared he'd been unable to meow, and his furry cheeks burned with the memory of his mother's husband's taunts. "Whassa matter, Lassie? Timmy fell down a well?"
His mother had translated for him, and though they had saved Andre and his fall had been his own fault, JD had still been beaten. He growled low, his soaked fur rising. Lightning flashed ahead of him, illuminating the broken Welcome sign for the town he was approaching. His chocolate tail swished; thunder roared. It would be nice to get a second chance in a new town, but that'd never happen. He could get a bed and meal, however. He rode in for the first time, his head hanging, ears folded, and heart heavy with memories. The storm raged.
The End
