The Neverending Story belongs to Michael Ende. I am only doing this for fun.
Forgotten Conversation Between Atreyu and Moonchild
The Book Version,
He awakened to find himself lying upon a bed. He sat up and looked around.
Had he imagined the huge water fountain and the two snakes? Or had it been real? He thought in bewilderment.
The door opened and the one person he had longed to see again was there. She looked stronger, more radiant. She smiled softly at him.
"I am glad you are awake, Atreyu," she said and she closed the door behind her.
He savored the soft bird song like quality that her voice had.
"You seemed to be cured, Empress," he said as he got out of the bed.
He had been healed of his injuries, and his once gray skin was back to the olive green it had been. He smiled at her.
"I am, Bastian came and gave me my new name," she said.
"What is it?" he asked.
She smiled at him, "Moonchild," she said.
"It suits you, Empress," he said.
"Call me Moonchild, Atreyu," she said.
"Of course, Moonchild," he said, "Where is Bastian?"
"He is beginning his journey," she said and a touch of sadness came to her voice.
He worried but did not question her.
"You will be leaving too?" she asked.
"I feel that I should help him back to his world since I helped him get here," he said.
"Yes, that would be best," she said softly.
"But I do not wish to leave you," he said.
"Then come back to me," she whispered.
"I will," he said softly and kissed her check.
"I will not be here when you bring Bastian here," she said.
"Why?" he asked.
"He can only see me twice, which is his gift. But when you finally help him home, I will be here," she said.
"Then I will return, I promise," he said and left the room, heading for where he knew to look for his friend.
