Three Delivery Aluminum Shine

Songfic – nothing weird to report or warn you of – except maybe Tobey singing.

Tobey leaned over and let his little blob jump back up on his shoulder. It had been slow in jumping up and he wanted to take it with him on a delivery, so he bent down to encourage it to hurry.

"Is something wrong with your little pet, Tobey?" Sid was sitting in a booth nearby strumming out a song he was writing for Stacy Ch'ing.

"No, I think you're song was distracting him."

"What do you mean, distracting him – 'distracting' because it is such a great song?"

"No, because it's giving him cavities – it's so corny sweet - it's dumb!"

"Is not dumb! Stacy will like it!"

"Only if she likes having cavities. Come on - 'I know you're the one - I can't live without you' - it's been done before you know! - Gag me!" Tobey went into a fit pretending to gag and his blob formed a mouth and made a gagging motion too.

"Let's see you do better – YOU put words to the melody I wrote." Sid started strumming out the melody that he wrote for Stacy and waited for Tobey to start singing.

Tobey took a deep breath and started powerfully belting it out with exactly the right timing and melody!

"Left brain spilling all the right names written in the same way laid out on the dance-floor

"One way circuit bending sideways switching off the right brain picking up the phone

"Who are you all

"You still come back when they break your glasses

"Though the heart beats faster than before

"Take the pennies off your eyes there is a black Cadillac

"Barreling down one hundred and five with the

"Aluminum Shine . . .

Tobey started dancing, and the blob 'danced' on his shoulder making squishing sounds.

"ALUMINUM SHINE over the microphone

"On the edge of a knife

"Over the barrio are we all right

"Over the microphone

"On the edge of a knife are we all

"Aluminum Shine – are we all . . .

Tobey ended in a flourish and slide up to Sid's booth on his knees like he was holding a microphone to his mouth.

Sid could barely keep playing for listening to Tobey sing. When he finished, Sid watched him get up off the floor and noticed the blob had made two little stubs and was clapping enthusiastically.

"Well? Awesome wasn't it?"

"Well um – I have to admit, that was really COOL – I didn't know you had it in you! But . . . what did it mean? It didn't sound like a love song for Stacy."

"What! You didn't understand it? I should have known you wouldn't get it – even my little buddy understood - didn't you buddy?" The blob clapped some more and nodded something that might have been a head.

Tobey started singing again. He sang it all again while he got his delivery ready and went out the door to get on his bike. Sid followed him to the door and listened again until he went out of earshot down the street.

"Wow – that was really . . . something!" Sid went back and sat down. He tried to remember what Tobey had sang, so he could write it down. He thought he had it close, and then started tweaking it by inserting 'love' and 'Stacy' in it here and there.

Later that evening, Sid could be found pedaling his bike very quickly trying to get away from the spoonfuls of banana smoothie Stacy was flinging at him after he tried to serenade her in Jiang's Smoothies.

". . . Animation Collective caught on to the group's buoyant music-which blends Foreman and Mason's dueling lead vocals, guitars and quirky noise samples-and matched them with a new project, the kung fu Nickelodeon cartoon "Three Delivery." Ten Minute Turns is now charged to compose the show's score and wrote the theme song." From bio for Ten Minute turns.
