"I'm the Doctor."

At first, it is an introduction, of sorts. It reveals little, save that he is someone who might have an idea about what's going on and how to fix it. The rest, however, is a mystery.

"Because I'm the Doctor."

It's a reason now. He does whatever it is he's doing because it's who he is; it's what he does. He is The Doctor- the wanderer, the traveler, the adventurer.

The renegade.

"I'm the Doctor. Perhaps you've heard of me?"

He is The Oncoming Storm, the blood-soaked warrior; the last of his race and the man who ended the Time War in a single Moment. Gallifrey is ash in the wind, but its name lives on. His name is whispered in darkened corners- as a blessing, perhaps.

Or a curse.

"Hello, I'm the Doctor. Basically, run."

No introduction needed.

Not anymore.
