The wind was bone chilling but I couldn't resist nudging closer to Edward. My soul mate and I sat quietly next to each other staring in mutual awe at the other. We were at Angela's annual bonfire. The flames roused behind Edward's flawless face highlighting his bronze locks in the night. He slowly leaned in towards me and murmured in my ear, "Bella, I smell dog." The wolves were here. Why do they always show up at the wrong times? The last time I saw Jacob I had punched him in the face and Edward had nearly murdered him. This could not be good. "Edward we have a problem. We need your family's help," Sam said as he appeared suddenly. Edward was still seething at the scent of werewolves but something told me he would put it aside in the presence of danger. "Is it Victoria?" I asked. They both ignored me as Edward continued to speak quietly in what looked like a one-sided conversation. "Edward," I said louder, asserting myself, "Edward. Tell me what's happening," I pleaded. He planted a kiss upon my head and in an instant, Edward had picked me up and we were quickly running to the Volvo. "Bella, you're in danger," he said. I sensed anger in his tone. "We have to get you out of here." We drove away into the dark forest of Forks. Something in my gut told me it was more than just Victoria.
