Summary-Summers in Konoha are unmercifully hot, but some how Sasuke and Naruto still manage to train together despite the heat.
Warnings- Heavily hinted SasuNaru, light swearing, and Shonen-ai. By the way, this is very very short but sweet.
Summers in Konoha were unmerciful; the temperature could reach over one hundred and ten degrees. Of course this was nothing new to all of its residents, who had decided to just adapt to their environment rather then try and change it.
So, most ninja would still be training, most civilians would still be shopping and selling their wares as well. Basically, life went on as normal.
Life was especially normal for the two male members of team seven, who despite the immense heat were still going at each other like cats and dogs. Well, both Sasuke and Naruto were without shirts and completely drenched with sweat, but still. It was almost normalcy.
"Getting…Tired…yet…Sasuke-teme?!" Naruto asked breathlessly after their tenth bout of taijutsu, his hands on his knees, golden head bent down from the exertion of working in the heat.
Sasuke 'tch'ed and wiped his forehead off with the back of his hand, leaning his left side against the cool bark of a tree, still managing to sound superior in his tone.
"You…Wish…Usuratonkachi." he panted back, willing himself to stand normally, but not finding the strength to do so.
As much as both boys hated to admit it, this was going to have to end in a draw.
Naruto lifted his head to study his rival's condition with a critical blue gaze, taking in every cut and mar that he placed on the ravenette's slick ivory skin. Despite himself, the blond's surveying look became a full blown stare, his eyes locked on the others pale chest, fixated by the way it rose and fell with each of Sasuke's breaths.
Of course, Sasuke wasn't a stranger to stares and caught Naruto's blatant gawking with ease. With a raised eyebrow and a small –albeit weary-- smirk, he crossed his arm over his chest, feeling a tad exposed.
"Staring is considered rude, dobe." He said in a condescending tone, causing Naruto to jerk his eyes away from the other boy. An embarrassed flush cooled on Naruto's face, making the Uzumaki stare down at the ground again.
"Wasn't staring, I was spacing you conceited ass." He defended, deciding to sit down in the meager shade a tree to his left provided. Well, it was better then sitting out in the baking sun.
Sasuke's response was a disbelieving "hn" and a movement to sort of stumble—Uchiha's don't stumble, they walk damnit all—toward the shade Naruto was sitting in, resting himself there as well, his ebony eyes falling shut as he did so.
With raised blond eyebrows Naruto watched Sasuke make himself comfortable beside him, feeling something awkward rise in his chest, which he immediately squashed. It was just Sasuke, his rival in life and best friend. Okay, so yeah the other was shirtless, but they'd been to to the hot-springs before, so why would it matter now?
Shaking his head to clear his odd thoughts, Naruto closed his eyes as well, unconsciously leaning into the darker haired boy next to him. Said boy took no notice, except for the fact that he slung his arm around Naruto's shoulders, holding the slightly younger boy against him.
And for some reason, neither boy so much as moved for the next couple of hours, because let's face it. They fell asleep, and it was probably the best sleep they've ever had. Minus the awkwardness of the following days to come from waking up that way… But that's a story for another time.
Autor's note-
My first story uploaded on here.... Huh... I like this one-shot, it's got just the right hint of SasuNaru-ness and isn't completely OOC (I hope ^^; )
Not my first story mind you, just the first one I wanted to put up here.
