Author's Note: I'm having absolutely terrible writer's block lately. I enjoy L's character a bit too much... Sometimes, it's hard to tell whether or not he's telling the truth.
Friendship
"Or rather, I don't want Light to be Kira. Because... Light is my first ever friend."
The sounds of antique bells chiming echoed throughout the bustling, bright city of Tokyo, unheard by all but one. The figure, clad in white, stared forlornly at the darkened sky, ears not quite registering the thunder rumbling, skin not feeling the pricks of rain soaking through the shirt.
He sighed once, twice, and did not dare repeat his action thrice. It was illogical, getting him nowhere closer to Kira, but not yet pushing him away. In his vision, the world was crumbling, buildings breaking and streets cracking, people non-existent just as he had been to them for nearly his entire life.
Despite the destruction of the city, he could only hear the bells, the bells of a place that had once been called home, but had no friends or warmth.
Somewhere, in the depths of his mind, he heard the sliding doors open and shut and a vaguely familiar voice reach his ears.
I wonder... if Kira could be saved from his own god complex... L mused, turning to face the murderer. And as he questioned the teenager about lies and truth, he added, It's a shame. Light is my first ever friend.
And later that day, as he fell from grace and his heart stopped beating, a flurry of thoughts flooded his mind. The most prominent: I really did mean that, Light Yagami.
