A Smitchie story for LaPaige's prompt challenge - Why?

The sun beat down ferociously against Mitchie's neck. It was a boiling hot day, and Mitchie and Shane were sat outside on deck chairs. Shane with his guitar, Mitchie laid on her stomach sunbathing. Her brunette hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and if she had not been wearing suncream she would sure be at a risk from terrible sunburn. She pulled the shades up from her head and stared over at her gorgeous boyfriend happily. He strummed at his guitar in concentration, playing one of Mitchie's favourites of his. He looked beautiful, his skin glowing in the sunlight, his eyes glittering. He looked up and caught her staring, and as she looked away her cheeks caught fire.

"Shane, will you pass me that bottle of water?" she asked.

"Why?"

"Because I'm thirsty" she said, feeling confused. Did he really need to ask why she wanted the water? It was right next to his chair, and she felt the burn in her throat as she needed water.

"Why?" he replied again.

"Because it's a hot day!" she said, with a little more alert in her voice.

"Why?"

"Because the sun is out?" she said, gesturing towards it with her hands.

"Why?"

"Because it's not behind the clouds!" she replied, slightly more smart ass about it now.

"Why?"

"Because if Shane keeps saying why, I'm gonna smack him"

"Why?"

"Because it's annoying" she exclaimed angrily, the frustration in her voice evident. She sat up, catching the sun in her eyes. He put his guitar down and wrapped his arms around her waist tightly. Mitchie first resisted, annoyed by his childish games. But as placed a kiss on her exposed shoulder she gave in, he knew her weaknesses.

"Love you, Mitch" he whispered, she turned around, and he stroked her bare face with his thumb. Shivers ran down her spine, as she opened her mouth to reply.

"Why?"
