Seeing as how I can't seem to finish anything else I'm writing I figured I'd just do oneshots for a while until I finish some other ideas. I don't own Hetalia.
Most of Italy's childhood memories involve Austria and Hungary in some way. They raised him and taught him how to be a good country. When he realized that Holy Rome wasn't coming back Mr. Austria gave him the day off and Miss Hungary comforted him. They were the closest thing he had to parents, they might as well be his parents. He was always too scared of Mr. Austria to say anything, but he wanted to call them mom and dad. When he was grown up and living with Germany, he decided to finally ask them about it. They were thrilled that he wanted to call them his parents, or so thay said, but he couldn't help but notice the small flinch Mr. Austria made every time he called them that.
After the world meeting one day, Austria and Hungary walked up to Italy and asked to speak with him. "Italy..." Hungary began. There was a long pause and finally Austria spoke up. "Italy, we aren't sure if you are aware of this, but you are a man. Well, not a man, male, you are male." Italy nodded slowly, everyone always reminded him that. Hungary and Austria figeted a bit. Hungary said,"What we are trying to say is that I am a woman, Roderich is a man, and you are a man. We are thrilled that you consider us your parents, but man are fathers and women are mothers, not the other way around." Italy looked confused. "But Papa, I was still a boy when I wore dresses, isn't this the same thing?"
"Not exactly Italia, we didn't know that you were a boy at the time." Austria spoke up,"No matter how masculine Hungary might act, she is still a woman, and not your father." He ignored Hungary's glare. Italy's lip started quivering and tears appeared in his eyes. "But, Mamma..." Italy started sobbing and Hungary hugged him to her chest. She glared at Austria. "What did I do?" Austria cried. She glared harder and Austria sighed. "Fine, Italy, you may continue to call me mother." Italy's tears dissapeared and he jumped up. He said,"Veeee! Let's go get pasta!" He grabbed their hands and led them away. The trio failed to notice Prussia, who had stayed behind when all the other countries left and had heard everything. "Mamma Austria, huh? Kesesesese!"
