Chapter One: Gold Death

Author's Note: This will be a story full of one-shots since every time I attempt to start an OUAT story I get distracted by other ideas and then it just goes downhill from there. Some one-shots will more than likely connect with each other but I'll try and make it that you don't have to read it's counterpart to understand the chapter/one-shot.

Now please enjoy reading my story.

Also to the followers of my other story How It Starts Next Generation I will be continuing that story I do have the ideas but I was re-watching episode 11 and 12 of OUAT season 4a and these one-shots wouldn't get out of my head!

Disclaimer: I don't own OUAT that belongs to the amazingly, talented writers and creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.

Emma turned to Belle who looked furious and was holding Gold's dagger. Her knuckles were turning with how much she was holding it. Emma was surprised that it wasn't about to break under the pressure.

'Why are you holding Gold's dagger?' Mary-Margaret asked, sounding confused.

'He proposed to me with a fake dagger,' Belle said, 'and I thought for a long time it was the real one but then I held the gauntlet that Rumple took and it leads to someone's weakness and-'

'It was the real dagger,' David finished, 'instead if you,'

'Hey,' Henry said, entering the apartment. He stopped talking and looked at them. 'Where's Killian?'

'Gold has his heart,' Emma said quietly. They all looked at her shocked. 'He's been acting weird for days. This has to be the answer!'

'Where would they be?' Mary-Margaret asked.

'The clock tower,' Henry said. They all looked at him and he rolled his eyes. 'Come on guys. That's where all the villains go and kill or threaten the heroes. You should know this by now.'

'It's worth a try.' Mary-Margaret said, standing up. 'Emma, use your magic to transport, you, me and Belle to the bottom of the library stairs. We'll wait in the elevator and then you'll send Belle behind Gold. If he's there which we know he'll be. Villains do like that lovely clock tower, don't they?'

'Okay,' Emma said, now getting a clearer head, 'dad, you'll need to stay here with Neal and Henry. I don't want them going into danger and since mum hasn't had an adventure for a while, I think it's her turn.'

David just laughed.

'We'll see you soon.' Mary-Margaret smiled. Henry hugged Emma.

'Killian will be okay,' Henry said.

'I hope so, kid,' Emma replied, kissing his forehead, 'but we all know of the hate between them.'

'You need some faith, mom,' Henry smiled. Emma just gave him a small smile and transported herself, Belle and Mary-Margaret to the clock tower elevator. They quickly hit the button, waiting for the elevator to go up. The clock tower had been blocked by magic since magic was introduced to Storybook.

The door opened and they quickly hopped out of the elevator. The sight that Emma was heart-breaking; the man she was falling in love with was hunched over in pain as Gold, with his evil trade mark smirk, squeezed his heart.

'Stop, Gold!' Emma yelled, throwing out her arm to shoot Gold with magic. She was stopped suddenly as she realised what had happened; they were now frozen. Killian was looking at her in shock, obviously not expecting to see her and Mary-Margaret.

'No matter,' Gold said, turning back to Killian, 'that part of my plan might have gone astray but I can assure you, this part won't.'

He squeezed Killian's heart and Killian fell to the floor with a strangled cry. Emma watched in horror as Gold scattered the heart dust on a hat. She felt her anger grow. She would make sure she killed Gold, no matter what it took. He killed Killian and she'd kill him. They'd be even.

'Rumple!' Belle said, appearing behind Gold. He seemed shocked to see her holding the dagger, in which there was no name scribbled on it. He had finally released himself of the dagger's power.

'Release them,' Belle spat. Gold hesitated, but Belle advanced upon him and shoved the hilt into his shoulder hard enough to give him a nasty bruise. 'Now!'

Gold waved his arm with a sigh and Emma leaned forward before steadying herself. She ran up the steps, passing Belle. She pushed past Gold who was now laughing and kneeled beside Killian's lifeless body.

'I promised him he would die,' Gold laughed, 'and now he has. Good riddance if I do say so myself.'

'Shut up!' Emma yelled. 'Just shut up! I will kill you! I will never give up trying to kill you, Gold!'

'Ah,' Gold said, smirking, 'did you love him? Did you love Captain Hook?'

'What do you think?' Emma spat.

'I'm going to take that as a yes, Miss Swan.' Gold said simply.

'Why did you kill him?' Mary-Margaret demanded, standing beside Belle.

'That pirate has brought me nothing more than pain and hatred.' Gold spat, gesturing to Killian's body.

'Killian?' Emma asked standing up. 'Has brought you nothing! You're wife left you because she wanted to, not because of Killian!'

'You dare speak of Milah?' Gold said, facing her. Pure hatred was shining in his eyes.

'Yeah, I do!' Emma said, taking a step forward. 'I'm not afraid of you Gold! If you kill me, you'll have the whole town hunting you down and you'll never see the last connection to Neal; Henry.'

'Henry is my grandson,' Gold said, the tiniest bit of fear showing in his eyes.

'No he's not,' Emma said, 'he's my son. He'll never be your grandson! Your chance was killed the minute you killed Killian. You'll never changed and you never have! Not for Neal, not for Belle nor with Henry because you love power more than love! You're a villain!'

Gold glared at Emma. Emma wasn't afraid of Gold. She had no one to live for. Her son had Regina, her parents had each other, Henry and Neal. They would soon get over her. She had nothing to live for anymore. There was that tiny thing in her stomach but what good would it be if she could not share Killian's child with him but she knew how Gold worked. He wouldn't kill her if she told him that. It was a lie but she had to make everyone believe it and she would play the part.

'I will kill you,' Gold said, 'if you try to kill me, Miss Swan.'

'Looks like you're going to have to kill me,' Emma spat. Gold shrugged and Mary-Margaret and Belle looked horrified.

'Emma!' Mary-Margaret said. 'Emma, please don't!'

'Gold won't kill me,' Emma laughed.

'Why is that, Miss Swan?' Gold said but Emma knew that he knew why. He hadn't figured out she was lying. Emma felt her throat restrict and she was lifted into the air, hovering above Killian's body. Mary-Margaret made to move to Emma but Emma froze her and Belle.

'Why won't I kill you Miss Swan?' Gold asked. Emma gave a humourless laugh.

'You- won't kill- a child- now- now- would you Gold?' Emma gasped. Gold glared at her. Emma knew she had gotten his weakness. He wouldn't kill a child. Gold released her and she fell to the ground, next to Killian's body.

'You seem to understand a little about me Miss Swan,' Gold spat, 'but do understand this; after that child is born, I will kill you. Nothing will stop me. Then, you'll be with your dear Captain.'

Emma glared at him and she ran at him. She tried put her hands around his throat but she was just blasted back with magic.

'Sunrise, Miss Swan,' Gold spat, walking up to her, 'sunrise tomorrow. Every must come. Including Henry.'

'I'll be there, Gold,' Emma spat, getting up. She pushed him back slightly.

'Magic only,' Gold said before leaving. Emma looked at her mother and Belle and unfroze them.

'I have a fight to prepare for,' Emma muttered. Her mother and Belle started to protest but she put her arms up and vanished, surrounded by smoke.

She looked at her surroundings; she was at the old farmhouse of Regina's half-sister, Zelena. This is where she had started to come to accept her feelings for Killian. Of her dead boyfriend. Then it started. The tears flowed free but she impatiently brushed them away.

'Miss Swan,' a voice said and Emma quickly turned around. It was Regina and Robin. She turned back around and impatiently waited for them to pass.

'That means you can pass,' Emma said impatiently, 'when I turn around.'

'Oh I know that,' Regina said, walking in front of her, 'it's just I don't listen to you,'

'I know,' Emma said, glaring at Regina.

'Why are you here?' Regina asked.

'Killian was killed by Gold and we had a very heated argument that lead me to tell him I was pregnant and he challenged me,' Emma said, 'so now I'm out here, preparing to fight.'

Regina seemed shocked but she soon regained her composure.

'Well, I can help you,' Regina said.

'No thanks,' Emma said, 'but you can go get the full details from Gold's wife and my mother. Don't tell them I'm here. I'd like to be alone until tomorrow at sunset.'

'Fine,' Regina said, shrugging, 'I can see you wish to be alone but you must use a spell to protect the unborn child.'

'Well, I'll figure that out soon enough,' Emma said.

'Might I add something,' Robin said, walking to face Emma, 'this must be a magic only fight, correct? Conjure a bow and arrow, put some magic into it then kill him. You're still using magic.'

'I've thought of that,' Emma said, 'but I prefer a sword at the least.'

'Then use that,' Robin said. Emma frowned and sighed.

'I think I need to think.' Emma said. 'I'll see you both tomorrow at sunrise. You have to be there. Secure the area by the clock tower.'

Emma put her arms up before they could protest.

It was going to be a long night.

'Where's Emma?' David asked immediately. Mary-Margaret sighed and sat at the bench.

'She left,' Belle said, 'after declaring to fight Rumple tomorrow at sunrise.

'Why?' Henry asked, looking up. He had been reading to Neal.

'Killian was murdered,' Mary-Margaret said quietly, 'by Gold.'

'What?' David asked sharply. 'He's dead?'

Mary-Margaret just nodded.

'What if Emma spilt her heart?' David said suddenly. 'Like we did? It would work, we all know it.'

'Try telling her that,' Mary-Margaret said.

'I'm going to talk to her,' Henry said getting up. He picked up his backpack, his phone and the storybook. They tried to protest but he had already vanished. Mary-Margaret groaned. It was going to be a long night.

Emma was in the middle of the parted crowd when Gold appeared. The crowd backed away but Mary-Margaret, David, Regina, Belle, Tinkerbelle and Robin stayed. Henry was on the other side of the crowd, standing with dwarves.

"I love you Killian,' Emma thought to herself, "so much."

'Mum!' Henry said, walking forward. 'Mum please don't do this. Think about Killian. Is this what he would want? There is a way to save him! I promise there is, but you can't fight, Mr Gold.'

'How Henry?' Emma asked, slightly desperate. 'How kid?'

'Do what Grandma did to save Grandpa,' Henry said, 'before Zelena's curse! They spilt their heart. They still lived, and you can do the same!'

'I don't know Henry,' Emma hesitated.

'Think about everything he's done for you! If that's not true love, I'm not sure what is. You ran away from each other, but you found each other! True love will always start off as that.' Henry said. 'I believe you could do it so you can too.'

'Fine,' Emma said, quickly freezing Gold. She took a deep breath and summoned Killian's body. It appeared in front of her and she felt tears in her eyes.

'Mum,' Henry said, 'you can do it. I believe in you.'

Emma nodded slowly and reached for her heart. She let out a gasp as Regina mimed what to do, walking over to her with the small group she was with.

Emma handed Regina her heart and kneeled down next to Killian, holding his lifeless hand. She closed her eyes and let out another gasp as she felt her heart twist. She looked at Regina.

'Are you sure?' Regina asked.

'Yes,' Emma answered. Regina nodded and put the two halves into Emma and Killian's chest. Emma let her breath out and turned to Killian who was still lying still. She started to lose her hope after a few minutes but started to cry when she felt Killian grasp her hand and sit up.

'Swan,' Killian said, 'you saved me.'

'Yes!' Emma said, nodding. She kissed him hard as everyone started to let out a sigh of relief.

All was well.
