He didn't know how long he was walking for, nor did he really care. Iruka wasn't sure where he was at from surveying the barren wasteland that was filled with the acrid smell of death lingering in the air. Perhaps someone should have mentioned this to him, so he decided to watch the weather change.

It unnerved him at the yellowish clouds drifting in the sky didn't seem to cover up the thin sliver of that hideous black moon. He felt hollow; empty inside and he wondered if Kakashi was here. He knew that man, and he knew that the moon was supposed to be silver, like the man's hair, not black like death. Was this a test?

Iruka continued on walking, not really there, just in being until he came upon the edge of the ocean's bed. The tide was low, he supposed, and his sandals were soaked from the muddy sand as he cringed when he saw the dead body of a bird that seemed to have just fallen out of the ugly sky. The dead bird was surrounded by little broken pieces of worthless meanings that humans once consumed.

The dark-skinned man knew that humans are too much like oysters observing the sun through the water and thinking that thick water the thinnest of air. He choked a little as he thought that they were all somehow dreadfully cracked about the head and sadly needed mending. He's already come curiously close to the end, why not more a little closer?

How pitiful, something whispered in his head.

Turning back to the black crescent that hung in the sky he prayed that he might find comfort here, or maybe even peace within the emptiness. Why did Kakashi leave him? He was alone. He felt sick, so very sick. He felt weak, so very weak. It was calling him perhaps… perhaps not, but he's still breathing so he guessed he was still alive. In Iruka's darkest moment when he's fetal and weeping, the moon tells him a secret-

You are dying, Iruka.

Something inside of him cracked; it could have been his head or a random bone in his body, but he started to cry. He was nothing more than a lifeless satellite drifting now and part of him wanted to blame Kakashi. That bastard, that whore he hated so fucking much. All he wanted to know was why.
