A/N This is for cuz-snarry's-awesome's Romantic Gestures Challenge!

Pairing: Lorcan Scamander and Rose Weasley

Gesture: Have a quiet night in

Rose hadn't the foggiest idea as to what possessed him to do this? How did he come up with this crazy bleeding idea? She just thought she was being nice to a classmate. How could a simple yes to the question of being Lorcan Scamander's valentine have spiraled so quickly and entirely out of control. For the love of Merlin help her.

She stared down at the letter, now stained with sausage grease from her breakfast, and shook her head. Why did she ever bother opening her mouth? Only things like this ever happened.

"What's that?" asked James, peering over Rose's shoulder, eyes hungry as he glanced over the letter, "Why'd Scamander send you anything by owl? We do happen to be in the same castle."

Rose felt a sputtering laugh down the back of her neck as James got a better look at the letter.

"He-he," James was barely able to make out more than one word before he dropped onto the bench next to Rose in absolute hysterics.

"Shut up will you?" she hissed, leaning over him.

"Why so lover boy won't hear me?" said James, a snort whistling through his nose.

"What are you talking about?" Hugo said as he and Albus approached the Gryffindor table.

"Nothing. It's nothing really," Rose said trying to stuff the letter back in her satchel. She wasn't fast enough however, because James grabbed hold of the piece of parchment and began to read.

"'Dearest Rose, I am writing to tell you that I return your feelings. I couldn't compare you to a summers day as you shine, nay, glow brighter than any sun!'" James threw his hand against his forehead dramatically and continued, "'I knew not this love burned deep in your heart. Will you join me tonight? For a quite night? Together we may gaze into each others eyes. Sincerely Your Love, Lorcan.' And then he filled a page with noughts and crosses," James smirked devilishly.

Rose sat wide eyed as Hugo began to make gagging noises that made Albus laugh.

"All of you are horrible! He...he was just being nice. A nice gesture," snapped Rose as she snatched the letter from James's hand. She should at least be greatful even if she wasn't planning on meeting Lorcan Scamander anywhere.

"You're only saying that because you haven't got a real Valentine, Rosie," Dominique said as she passed by.

Rose's face went red, "Well turns out I have!" Rose jumped from her seat and waved the piece of parchment in the air. Unfortunately, Dominique was already passing the doors to the great Hall.

"Are you really going to go, Rose?" Albus asked with his eyes in a squint.

"Haven't the foggiest," She said and plopped back down on the bench. This hadn't been how she had planned her Valentine's Day. But she had a terrible feeling that that was how it was going to end up.

But she went. And when she got there there was someone waiting for her. Just not the person she had expected.
