Fandom: Haven.
Character: Audrey.
Author's note: A little songfic with Dotted lines (by Sweet Talk Radio), a song I first heard in season 1. You should totally go check it out on Youtube, there's a fan video based on Haven that I find awesome.
Haven. At first she thought it was God's idea of a joke. Or the devil's irony. Because Haven was anything but safe. And yet she did stay, didn't she?
What is it, keeps me returning
To questions I ask
My paper heart has been burning
Since you threw a match
She had good reasons. Her inveterate curiosity. The desire to help those people. Because there were some pretty great people in Haven.
I can't quit a habit like you dear
Cold, as they say
Something about how you live here
I wanna live that way
She couldn't quite put her finger on it. The little something that made this godforsaken town so unique. That made life here so much simpler, so much tastier.
But I don't wanna take something that never was mine
Or fill in blank spaces with more dotted lines
One thing I can promise when all the smoke clears
Just look in this window and you'll find me here
She'd been troubled for so long, in her own way. Like she was missing something. She thought she liked to be alone when she just didn't know how to relate to people. Or maybe she just hadn't met the right ones.
I never was someone
Who knew what to say
I sank to the bottom
While you rode the waves
And now she couldn't picture her life away from them. From Haven. She had learnt so much here. So maybe each answer brought a new question, but at least it gave her reason to stay. If she ever needed one.
Why couldn't you teach me
If only you knew
How I longed for those words
How I longed for those words
So there was no irony in the name after all. To anyone who bothered to look further than meets the eye, it really was a safe haven.
But I don't wanna take something that never was mine
Or fill in blank spaces with more dotted lines
One thing I can promise when all the smoke clears
Just look in this window and you'll find me here
Her safe haven.
