I was trying to write more of Drowning In Nothing, and this came out. Enjoy and Review!

Remus sat against the wall, not having the energy or will to get to change the calendar date. It had stayed the same for three days.

October 31, 1981.

The date glared at him as he sat against the wall for the third day straight.

October 31, 1981.

He's lost everything. His four best friends, gone. Three dead, one worse than dead. A traitor. Remus couldn't believe it. How could Sirius betray them? What possessed him to sell out James and Lily? Why kill Peter? Poor boy was always hopeless at dueling.

October 31, 1981.

Could he have stopped this?

The date will always be remembered as the day Voldemort was defeated. Remus will always remember it as the day he was left alone.

The last Marauder standing.

Remus glanced around the Entrance Hall as curses flew by. He couldn't believe it had come to this.

They were so close to winning the war. But watching Hogwarts burn broke his heart. It was a second home to him. It was where he found friends; friends that had become his brothers.

Until they were gone.

He still remembered October 31, 1981 as the day he was left alone. But then, he learned the truth. Pettigrew was the spy, not Sirius. Remus wasn't the last Marauder anymore, he had Sirius.

Until Bellatrix killed him. Remus had stood in shock as Sirius fell oh so gracefully through the Veil. His heart broke and he could only think two things: Grab Harry, keep him from following through; and falling through the Veil was the worst possible way for Sirius Black to die.

He was always so alive, more than any of them. But that house sucked the life out of him, slowly, the last year. Then, when dueling Bellatrix, Sirius was alive again. He died laughing and taunting his hated cousin. He died fighting as he always had wanted to.

And Remus was left alone again.

Now he, Remus John Lupin, better known as Moony to his friends, truly was the Last Marauder standing.

But he wasn't alone.

Remus looked over at Tonks and smiled. The past moths were worth laying aside all the reasons he shouldn't have married her. God, he loved her so much.

Tonks met his gaze and smiled back, before her eyes darted over his shoulder. He turned and fired a curse at the Death Eater. The Death Eater had already fired though. Remus saw the man fall and his last curse flying towards him in slow motion.

He turned back towards his wife. Her face, wide-eyed and frightful, was the last he saw.

October 31, 1981.

James and Lily Potter died, betrayed by Peter Pettigrew.

June 18, 1996.

Sirius Black died, killed by Bellatrix Lestrange and fell beyond the Veil.

May 2, 1998.

Remus Lupin died, killed by a nameless Death Eater, and joined his fellow Marauders and fallen Warriors.

Shortly after, he was joined by Tonks, and Remus was finally at peace. He was finally home.

I'll get back to DIN once I have more ideas.. I might end up posting more oneshots first though.
