Chapter 1: Nightmares
Robin walked alone in the woods down a dirt path. He didn't know where he was going and where he came from, he just knew to keep walking. The night was dark, almost black and eerie in a comfortable way. The place he was at was familiar, even though he had never been there before. Suddenly a dark figure stepped out of the woods and began to walk towards him. She held out her hand as a shield, her eyes glowing black, ready to attack him at any moment. Before Robin thought about running away, she lowered her hand down to her stomach, her eyes turning to dark violet. It took him a second to realize why the girl was clutching her stomach. Blood was gushing out of a deep cut above the girls belly button spilling all over her. The beautiful girl abruptly fell to the ground, unconscious. Before he even knew what he was doing Robin screamed "Nooooo!"
Robin awoke with a start, drenched in sweat even though he only wore a pair of boxers. He wasn't surprised he awoke screaming. It had been a nightly occurrence for the past two weeks. The other Titans didn't even bother to come in and check on him anymore. Robin glanced at the clock 5:16 a.m. "At least I got 3 hours of sleep tonight" he thought, knowing he would be awake for the rest of the day. He rolled out of bed and went into the bathroom. He studied his refection in the mirror. Shaggy back hair, sullen face, and blue eyes with deep purple circles under them. "Lucky you can't see them under my mask" he thought as he imagined how worried the other Titans would be if they found out exactly how much sleep he's gotten in the past two weeks. After his shower, Robin laid on his bed and thought about his reoccurring nightmare. It was the same very night except Aroree was dying in a different way. "Maybe it's a premonition" he thought but quickly pushed it out of his mind, not able to bare the thought.
"Make me tofu eggs!"
"Man, I'm not making you no tofu eggs!"
"Not fair! You always make everyone breakfast but me!"
"Because unlike you, the rest of us want food with FLAVOR!"
Robin heard the familiar bickering of Beastboy and Cyborg in the kitchen. "Do they have to have the same fight EVERY morning?" Robin thought to himself. He jumped out of bed and headed to the kitchen.
"Hello Robin!" Starfire greeted him when he entered.
"Hey Star" Robin replied smiling. Everyone seemed tense around him lately. Like they're scared to say the wrong thing.
"Want some eggs Rob?" Cyborg asked.
"No thanks" Robin said picking up a piece of toast. "Ill be…"
"Out. Like always. Where do you go anyway? You're gone all day." Beastboy asked.
Before Robin could get mad at Beastboy for being the nosy, annoying kid that he is, Raven stepped in. "Just leave him alone and get your own life to obsess about." She snapped. Robin shot her a grateful look before walking out the door. That's what he always loved about Raven, she knew what it felt like to want to be alone. Or she just read his not very pleasant energy.
