Don't own the brilliant Jane Austen

Darcy and Elizabeth in their engagement

I wrote this thinking about the 2005 film (which I love) Matthew Mcfayden is THE Mr Darcy 3

Elizabeth woke up with a smile on her face; she had been for about three weeks ever since she had become engaged to Mr Darcy. She lay there for awhile until she heard the distant sounds of horse hooves and quickly got dressed for breakfast.

When Mr Darcy and Mr Bingley entered the Bennett's drawing room to walk with their respective fiancées, as they did every day since the engagement, they were greeted by a praising Mrs Bennett, as always.

"Good Morning Mr Bingley, Mr Darcy. Jane and Lizzie are just coming," she curtsied and bustled Mary out the way. Sure enough there was the sound of two pairs of footsteps, one dainty the other slightly more soundly, coming from behind. The two men turned to see their future wives come down the steps. Jane and Elizabeth curtsied slightly and took the arms of their fiancés.

It was a little while before Darcy and Elizabeth were alone, they, Jane and Bingley had walked until they came to a forked lane. Jane and Bingley took the left while Elizabeth and Darcy took the right.

"Miss Elizabeth, how have you been since yesterday?"Darcy inquired looking down to see Elizabeth's fine eyes twinkling, he gave a rare smile.

"Perfect thank you, Mr Darcy, I dare say yours has been the same?" Elizabeth arched an eyebrow and bit back a laugh. Darcy chuckled slightly,

"Yes, it has been wonderful lately." They walked for awhile in silence until they stood under an old oak tree slightly concealed, Mr. Darcy ran his hand through his dark hair nervously but continued to follow Elizabeth's guide into a country lane.

"Miss Elizabeth," he started, giving her a small fright at the sudden conversation, "as you know we are approaching our wedding soon and may I be as bold to ask you something?"

Elizabeth smiled,

"You may." They had both stopped in the middle of the lane and faced each other.

"Miss Elizabeth, can I kiss you?" Darcy looked Elizabeth straight in the eye when he said that. She looked shocked but recovered in time and said,

"You may." She smiled as Darcy processed her approval then slowly bent his head lower. She laughed slightly at his awkwardness so that a bush crept onto his neck. Finally his lips met hers. There was a spark of what seemed like electricity as they kissed slowly. At last they pulled away for need of air. Elizabeth blushed fiercely and glanced at Darcy, who was glowing with happiness. He boldly took her small hand in his, causing her face to glow red. She looked into his blue eyes and whispered,

"I love you Fitzwilliam." The use of his Christian name seemed to make the statement more powerful to him.

"I love you too, my Elizabeth." He smiled down at her gently and squeezed her hand slightly. He bent his head again when the moment was ruined by a close voice calling.

"LIZZIE! It is time to go back!" Jane and Bingley were obviously drawing near, Elizabeth laughed at Darcy's annoyed sigh and took the arm he offered her, but not before she stood on her very tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek. It was then Darcy's turn to blush fiercely.

With that Mr Darcy straightened himself to his full height, 6ft, and walked Elizabeth back to Longbourn, both perfectly in love with each other.
