Hiya! I'm Delta. You might have read some of my stories on my own account TheElfThatRodeADemonWalrus. This is my first story on TheChasm, a joint account between myself and Butterfly. The title of this story won't be clear in this chapter, but it will very soon! Please enjoy!

Behind the large patch of fog and cloud, Remus could sense that the full moon was waiting. He slipped out of the common room silently, wishing to have a moment of peace before his transformation. As the portrait hole closed, he saw James, Sirius and Peter laughing by the fire. They'd realise he was gone after they made some rude joke and it was only Lily scolding them.

He walked through the stony corridors, the sound of his footsteps echoing through the castle, and he felt like a giant, stomping through a city. He didn't want to alert any of the teachers that didn't know about his affliction, so he took his shoes and socks off and walked down the cold steps in his bare feet. He loved the sort of noise that feet made when you walked bare foot - the padding noise, the soft 'plod' sound - it sounded so quiet, so inaudible, that it almost felt like he was a ghost, like he didn't exist. Sometimes he wished that during the transformation, someone would just come and knock him out with mallet so that, for a night, every full moon, he would just - not exist.

Wet grass tickled the insides of Remus' toes, whilst he made his way to the Whomping Willow. Fog was spread thick across patches of the sky, and the moon was not in sight. There was no wind that night, not even the tiniest breeze, and he knew that it was going to be a very long time before the moon was in sight, and all he could do was wait.

He sat beside the Whomping Willow (just far away enough so that he could get inside quickly enough if necessary, but also so he wouldn't be battered). It was a very humid night, and he took his shirt off to stay cool. Minutes felt like hours, and he lay down to watch the stars glitter high above. His mum used to tell him stories about stars. He remembered that once she said that the stars were all the souls in the world. He knew the story about wishing on shooting stars, but he had never seen one. Sometimes when he couldn't sleep at night, he would look at the stars, hoping he'd see a shooting star. Remus didn't know what he would wish for if he saw a shooting star, but he couldn't wait to find out.
