Final episode of Supernatural
This was it. The end had finally come. They saw their insides spilled out on the floor as they took their last breath and closed their eyes for the last time. Sam and Dean had been to Heaven more times than they could count, but this time was different. They knew they weren't coming back.
They had finally arrived. In front of them stood their real home, the one back in Kansas. Dean opened the door cautiously; unaware of what might be waiting for them inside. As he pushed the door, he was greeted with a massive bear hug.
His hugger retreated and tears swelled up in his eyes as he saw who it was. "Mom?" he could barely choke out. She smiled as she said, "Welcome home sweetie, we've missed you." Before he could even ask who 'we' was, Sam pushed passed them and ran straight into his dad's arms. Dean joined him and it was almost as if they were kids again. Not hunters, but regular kids.
Mary disappeared into the kitchen and returned with a handful of beers. They all took one and they sat down at the table in backyard. Dean took a swig and sighed, "It's to be home." "You could say that again. But still, I sort of miss hunting", Mary agreed. Sam stood up and walked over to the radio. "Let's get some tunes going." He tuned it to a rock station and 'Carry on My Wayward Son' blared over the speakers. Dean's eyes lit up as he sloppy belted the chorus.
Sam was laughing, his beer spilling over the edge. That's when heard her voice. The back door opened and she stepped outside. "I'd thought I would never hear that obnoxious laugh ever again." Sam would've recognized her long, blonde hair anywhere. His smile fell and the tears welled in his eyes. "Jess." His voice cracked. She took a seat next to him and kissed him on the cheek. "Your hair's gotten long", she teased. Sam wiped away his tears and kissed her on the lips for the first time in years.
Then they all heard the familiar swish of the wings and Castiel appeared behind Dean. Cas smiled and wrapped his arms around Dean. "Cas, not in front of my parents", Dean whispered as he swatted him away. John chuckled and explained, "Dean, don't worry. Cas has been by here more times than you know of. He asked for my consent when you two, you know." He mumbled the last few words of the sentence. Cas and Dean awkwardly looked down at their matching rings they had gotten when they got married.
Mary's stomach grumbled and she offered, "I'm getting kind of hungry. How about I make meatloaf for dinner? Like the old days". The group nodded in agreement as they took their respective dates by the hand and walked into the kitchen. An hour later they sat down to a home cooked meal.
None of them realized that this was the first time since Mary had died that they had all been together as a family.
