Draco was on no one's side. He ran through the crowd only stopping if someone tried to hurt him. Then he would fire a curse or two back and keep running. He had to find her. He had to find her before it was too late. Draco kept running until he spotted a head of bushy, brown hair running into a nearby corridor. He chased after her. He turned into the corridor after her and found it was surprisingly empty, except for the two of them.

"Granger!" He called out. She stopped dead in her tracks and turned around. The minute she saw Draco, she ran at him and threw her arms around him. Draco could feel her body shaking from sobs. Hermione lifted her head up and Draco saw tears streaming down her face.

"I thought you were dead!" She cried. Draco wrapped his arms back around her and she continued to cry.

"Hey it's ok. I'm not dead. We're both fine." Draco didn't know what to say. He had never been the comforting type of boyfriend. It was always Hermione helping him be strong.

"But for how long?" Hermione asked. "Harry's gone into the Forbidden Forest. Either he'll come back or You-Know-Who will. The war will end tonight with one on top."

"Yes. And it'll be Potter. You'll have your friends and family back."

"But what about you?" Her question stopped Draco. What would happen to him? If Potter won, he would definitely be thrown in Azkaban and if Voldemort won, he'd be killed for not fighting tonight. Draco knew he was finished either way. He just couldn't let Hermione go down with him.

"I'll be thrown in Azkaban. I'm a Death Eater after all." Hermione glared up at Draco.

"No, you're not. You are not a Death Eater. You are so much better than them."

"Thanks but I'm really not. I plotted all year trying to get Dumbledore killed and ended up just cursing that Bell girl and getting Weasley poisoned. I sat there and watched as you got tortured." Draco trailed off. He'd never ever forgive himself for not doing anything to save her that night.

"But you didn't kill Dumbledore, you couldn't. And you didn't tell Bellatrix that it was Harry that night. Everyone makes mistakes. It's what you do after them that matters more."

"I'm still going to Azkaban."

"No you're not. I won't let them put you in Azkaban. I'll fight your case."

"No. I won't let you do that. Don't you see?" Draco looked directly into Hermione eyes. "You can have a life after this. You can go get a job, have a family, make the wizarding world a better place. But if you associate yourself with me that might not be able to happen."

"I don't care." Hermione said defiantly. "I want my life after this to have you in it."

"Granger." Draco grabbed the sides of Hermione's face and pulled her lips up to meet his. Hermione wrapped her arms around Draco and they were both lost in the moment. It was just them, no war, no fighting, nothing. Draco gently took Hermione's wand out of her back pocket. He had to do this. This was better for her. He pulled away.

"Hermione," To Draco saying her first name felt weird but this was the only time to do it. "I love you and I'm sorry but I have to do this." He stepped back and pointed his wand at her.

"What Draco?! What are you doing?"

"I am not good for you. You deserve someone more."

"No! I love you!"

"I love you too. Sorry." Draco raised the wand higher. "Obliviate."
