Sora's eyes were wide with shock. One gloved hand was clasped by both of Riku's. They were both high up on a perched rock formation on Destiny Island (done by Riku's suggestion) that out looked the ocean; the large body of water that separated them from the rest of the world.

"Riku...What did you just say?"

"I really like you, Sora. As more than a friend."

Sora stood up and slipped his hand out of his best friend's.

"I like you too, Riku. But not like that; I like Kairi. Sorry."

Riku did not move, did not breath, did not speak. After painful moments of silence he finally whispered an 'okay.'

Sora flashed his usual carefree smile. "I'm glad you understand, Riku!" He jumped off the rock and splashed into the ocean, swimming back to the shore.

Riku plopped himself onto the ground and sighed. He stayed there for a long time, staring at the clouds until the sun began to set. Finally, he picked himself up and jumped into the ocean, swimming to the sand that marked his home.
