Raven walked along the water, going to her favorite spot. It had been a long day and every Titan was handling it differently. The pain felt for the loss of Tera masked the joy of Slade being gone. Raven knew that Beast Boy was taking the loss most difficultly. He had entered her old room immediately after the battle ended, and had not been heard from since. Cyborg found comfort in simply shutting down and allowing his mechanical aspects to be repaired. Naturally, Starfire clung to Robin for comfort, and Raven was left alone. That's how she liked it best.
She was almost to the spot. Robin had first shown her this spot, and he was the only one that knew it existed. Through the warehouse district along the water there was a small pier that went out into the lake that contained Titan's Tower. Inches above the water, the pier made Raven feel as though she was walking on the water herself. The solitude and comfort she achieved at this place was unlike any other. Any solitude was welcome.
Sitting on the pier was the only place Raven felt she could truly let her guard down. No one knew of the place except Robin, and he was occupied. Tera and Raven had never been close, but she had been a team member. And Raven had seen the destruction Tera had caused. Raven would give anything to sacrifice herself the way Tera did, but powers out of her control bound Raven to Earth and kept her from leaving and kept her from a premature death. "I've been placed here as a pawn, simply used to protect the King until he can move in for the final action" thought Raven. It stung here what an accurate statement this was, and she felt the tears well up in her eyes. Fire and chaos among the Titans was one thing, but fire across the world was a completely different concept.
Her thoughts were interpreted by a noise. Slowly she stood up. "Hello…?"
"Hello Raven."
Raven did not think she had ever been so shocked and stunned by this appearance. "Slade?"
"Good job my little bird" Slade said as he walked out of the shadows. "I never realized how badly I wanted to talk to you until now. Your father feels the same way."
'Oh fuck' Raven thought. Her powers were weak from opening her soul, but she had enough strength to fly away. Without thinking she turned and started flying toward the tower.
"Not so fast honey" Slade said and pulled her down by her cape. With a crash she landed hard on the pier. Pain flooded into her body as fear took over her thoughts. Slade kneeled down so that he was holding her down with his hands and digging into her sides with his knees. "I have a job. And thanks to your dear father I have a body." With that he began to rip her uniform off. "This is from your father." Pain completely engulfed her and she began to block out the present because it was too difficult to acknowledge. Finally when she came to consciousness, Slade was standing over her again. "You're one of the worst girls I've ever been with. But your father will be pleased." With that he kicked her on the side and walked away.
Blackness covered Raven's thoughts as she lost consciousness again.
