The Story So Far…
Maria has been morphed into a Buneary in pure vengefulness. On a quest to find a poke-morph master, a trainer, Mat, accidentally catches her. Together, they travelled to Violet City to get Maria's form back and fulfil Mat's dream. But the two stumble onto a villainous member of Team Rocket and find out the last part of a mysterious legend… only to have Team Rocket want to steal Maria's Pokemon. But a Ho-Oh saves them. Who knows where it'll carry the two next…
I looked down in surprise. Ho-Oh had flown us right over to where we started – at the place with the flowers and lake. It seemed that Mat was just as confused as I was as he was looking at me questioningly. I shrugged to mirror his clueless thoughts. Ho-Oh touched down gently on the bank and waited for us to get off.
"No way," Mat murmured, "Don't tell me that we're at the start all over again?!"
"There must be a reason why Ho-Oh wants us to get off here… like, it's a legendary, right?" I said doubtfully.
Ho-oh was getting a little impatient. Finally, it smoothed out its feathers and lowered its head, forming a sort of slide. Unable to stop, we slid down to the ground. With a screech, Ho-oh took off.
"So, what do we do now?" Mat asked miserably. "I'm guessing that if we try to leave, Ho-oh will just pick us up and take us back here again."
I shook my head. "I have a feeling something's going to happen soon. Just watch and wait."
"Oh great." Mat complained. "You sound like my mum!"
Even so, Mat obediently sat himself on a dry patch of grass. I found a tree whose main trunk split evenly in two at waist level. It also offered a good view of the lake so I made myself comfortable with my neck nestled in between the two branches. Without realising it, I fell asleep.
I stood on the crystal clear surface of a pool, feet barely touching the water. As I watched, a spreading darkness started creeping its way into the water – contaminating it. A hologram of the Oracle appeared in front of me. She pointed a finger at the darkness and waved a hand over it as if to make it dissipate. But it didn't work. I cried out in alarm as monsters of all different sizes popped out of it. They roared and the darkness dripped off them, falling with a disheartened plop in the water. They lunged at me and I saw the Oracle again… pointing at me. She seemed to tell me that I was the only hope if Violet City was to survive. Then, she disappeared. The monsters lunged and I squeezed my eyes shut… trying to block out their terrible faces. Their jaws opened and I pinched myself for being so stupid and for not dodging their attacks.
I exited the dream with the sound of myself yelping at the pain of the pinch.
As I awoke, I noticed a bright yellow light coming from the lake.
"Mat, Mat!" I whispered, shaking Mat vigorously.
"Huh? Mum? What?" Mat mumbled.
"It's not your mum, it's your Buneary!" Or Maria I added to myself silently.
Mat's eyes blinked open.
"Oh, hi Buneary." He said dreamily.
I've had enough. I went to the lake and filled up my cupped hands. Then I splashed it all on Mat.
"Hey!" Mat yelled, then clapped a hand to his mouth. It seemed wrong to disturb the silent serenity of the place.
Slowly, Mat sat up and gazed with awe at the sight before us.
"It's amazing!" he breathed and looked to me for my opinion.
I nodded, my face grim.
Now I knew why Ho-oh took Mat and I here.
For the first sacrifice.
