My first Rizzoli & Isles oneshot! So excited! This takes place during the episode "I'm Your Boogie Man". Hope you enjoy it!

"Have you ever shot one before?"

Maura looked at her friend. They both knew the answer to that question, and Maura smiled at her friend sheepishly. Jane laughed sarcastically.

"No," Maura admitted, though it wasn't much of a confession. "But I'm a fast lesbian."

Jane looked wide awake for the first time in three days. She stared at her friend, whose face was rapidly turning red.

"Learner. I'm a fast… learner," Maura said quickly, trying to cover up her mistakes.

"Right…" Jane said. Maura nodded, trying to move past the awkwardness of her mistake. Jane unloaded the gun before handing it to her friend. "Here."

Maura took the gun from her friend, and gripped it in her right hand. She felt Jane grasp her wrist gently, moving her hands into the appropriate positions.

"Put your left hand like this… same force forward and back…"

Maura was usually a terrific listener, but at this moment, she was focusing more on the Jane's hands than her voice. Still, she managed to get the proper technique down, and when she looked at Jane, she saw her friend was smiling.

"All right, that's enough," Jane said, taking the gun back. She laughed tiredly as she put the bullets back in the gun and cocked it. She held the gun out. "It's loaded now."

Maura reached for the firearm, but Jane pulled it away. "I'm only doing this because I'm tired."

Maura nodded and took the gun, but Jane put a hand on top of hers before she could pull away. Maura looked up into Jane's eyes, and saw that Jane was looking at her with an intensity she had never seen before.

"Jane? Are you all right?" Maura asked. The way Jane was looking at her was making her heart race.

Jane shook her head as if trying to clear the sleep away. "Yeah. I'm fine. Just… very tired."

"You should get some sleep."

Jane nodded and stood up, moving around the couch. Maura took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She tossed her hair once before she raised the gun, her gaze on the opposite wall.

"Jane, Jane," she said, trying to get her friend's attention.

"What?" Jane said, sounding exasperated.

"Do I look badass?" Maura asked with a smile.

Jane laughed tiredly. "Yeah, you look badass. A real fast lesbian."

Maura started to smile, then realized what Jane had said. "Hey!" she said, lowering the gun and glaring at her friend, but Jane was already retreating down the hall, her laughter echoing off the walls and sending chills down Maura's spine.
