DISCLAIMER: I don't own Pokemon! I however, own Jake Arkumas Shinji

Paul sat next to the bed, holding the small light-blue blanket in his arms. His onyx eyes took in the being on the hospital bed. His wife lied on the thin mattress, breathing softly. Her cobalt-blue hair was matted to her forehead, and her matching eyes were closed as she slept. He stroked her head with a free hand.

It was one o'clock in the morning, both her and the newest member of the Shinji family had been asleep for almost an hour. Trying desperately to restore their strength. Paul looked down at the bundle with a loving gaze, he stroked the short midnight-blue tufts on his head as he waiting to see what colour his eyes were. Movement from the bed brought his attention back to it.

Her sapphire eyes fluttered opened as their adjusted to the dim lighting. She held a hand up and Paul took it. She smiled. "Can I hold my baby boy?"

Paul smiled fondly at her. He got up from the chair and gentle moved her to one side of the bed, him taking the other. He handed over the newborn. "We both can."

She took the bundle in her arms as she pushed herself up slightly. She took her first proper look at their first child. "He gorgeous," she gushed, stroking his hair. "Do you know what colour eyes he has?"

Paul shook his head. "Not yet, but I can tell they'll be just as beautiful as his mother's."

"Has anyone else seen him?"

He shook his head again and kissed her cheek. "No one else has except for the doctors," he said, kissing her forehead. "Plus, I checked and no one else is awake. It's one in the morning, on Christmas day."

She smiled at him. "I was thinking of Arkumas, what do you think?"

"It sounds more like a middle name. I was thinking of Jake," he replied, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

Tears came to her eyes. "After my father? Really Paul? That means a lot to me." She cuddled into his embrace, bringing their first-born with her.

"Yeah well unlike my Dad who got himself imprisoned by being stupid, your father was caring and died of unfair causes. And he gave me the best wife anyone could ask for," he said smirking as she leaned into his face. Kissing him with the little strength she had mustered.

A small curious gurgle broke their romantic gesture and they looked the bundle in her arms. Large, bright, new, curious eyes stared back at them. He reached up with a small hand, clenching and unclenching it. Paul carefully brought his index finger down to the baby, and he tried to wrap his fingers around it before slowly closing his eyes again.

Her smile widened as she looked at the expression her husband's face bore, one of pure happiness, adoration and love. "He's got his father's eyes."

Paul nodded and looked back to her. "Yes, but their the shape of his mother's." He hugged the two of them tighter. "We have the most precious baby boy."

"That's a little too out of character for you isn't it? But it's true." She sighed contently and rested her head on his broad shoulder. "So have we decided that the name what the name will be?"

Paul kissed the top of her head. "Jake Arkumas Shinji, I think that sounds perfect for him."

She nodded in agreement.

Paul moved down closer to her ear and whispered, "Thank you for the best Christmas present ever. I love you, Dawn."

Dawn smiled and brought her her face up to his. "No thank you, I love you too."

The young family fell asleep shortly after the kiss the two shared, after all being up for seventeen and a half hours did have disadvantages.

I've had this written for ages too. And since so many of you wanted ikari, I posted!

Merry Christmas!
