Someday at Sunset

Sonny loved to watch the sunset. Cheesy, right? Well, that was Sonny Munroe for you. You see Sonny Munroe wasn't like other girls. While others strived to fit in, Sonny had no problem with standing out. It was just who she was.

If you said you hated her, she would smile and say that hate is a strong word. Then she would say that she loved you. If you told her she was a talentless loser, she would tell you she tried her best, but she couldn't please everyone and she was sorry for disappointing you. Sonny was a selfless person, always putting others before herself. She didn't really want what others had, but there was something that Sonny did want.

Sonny wanted someone to someone to love her. Cheesy again, isn't it? Well she's from Wisconsin, what do you expect? Back to the story, though! Sonny wanted someone to love her. She wanted the fairytale that every girl wanted. The day where she would be sitting with the guy she loved, who also loved her back, and stare off into the sunset.

Someday that would come true, but there was still a question left. When would that day come? Tomorrow? A week? A month? A year? Would she be twenty? Would she be forty? Would she be so old, she couldn't walk down the aisle? Sonny Munroe wanted to know.

She was a very intelligent girl. She got A's in every class. (Except maybe math.) She could tell you all the presidents that had ever served the U.S.A. She could tell you about alcoholic fermentation. Anything! But she didn't know when her prince would come.

She sat in her dressing room sad. She wanted her someday at sunset! She heard a knock on the door. "Come in!" She exclaimed.

The door opened to reveal Chad Dylan Cooper. "Hey," He said.

"Hey," Sonny responded. "What do you want?"

"Oh, I just came to ask you a question." Chad answered.

"Oh, OK. What's your question?" Sonny asked from her chair.

"Um, ok, I'm just going to come out with it." Chad said. "I, um, I." Chad stuttered through his word like a scratched c.d. that kept replaying the same word over and over again.

"Just come out with it, Chad!" Sonny exclaimed. "I haven't got all day."

Chad looked scared. Sonny began to wonder if he ever dreamed of his someday at sunset. Her question was answered. Chad bent down and kissed Sonny on the lips. It wasn't real long, but not too short either.

"Ilikeyou,Sonny!Ireally,reallylikeyou!Ihopeyoulikemeto,orelse,thiswouldbereally,really,really,weird. Doyoulikeme?" Chad rushed out.

Sonny didn't answer. She sat in her chair shell-shocked, unable to move.

"Sonny?" Chad whispered.

Instead of answering him, Sonny kissed him. And as soon as their lips met, suddenly, Sonny's someday at sunset wasn't that far away. = )
