"I am the keeper of tongues," she said in a voice as smooth as silk. Her hand played with the gold locket around her neck. "Each delicate one..."

Dean sat mute, bound to listen. He could feel something scratching at the back of throat.

"I can feel the biting edge to your words," she observed looking over to his motionless form. "But there's also a taste of loneliness here."

She punished those unfit for language, collecting those she'd stolen. Inside the locket a thousand voices screamed. "You don't have to be anymore."

Dean remained silent, waiting. The outcome was unspoken.
