Doctor Who

A Simple Day

It was a warm summer day while most teens and young adults alike were drinking booze, dancing to very loud music or doing other bodily activities. Bill Potts sat down at the docks with her fishing pole, blue cooler and bait. She wasn't really into the party scene anymore. While she did go once and she met Heather she just couldn't see herself going to anymore parties after that.

Now here she was sitting on the edge of the dock holding the end of the fishing pole while the other end was in the water. She found this somewhat relaxing as if time was moving along slowly. With the sun beating down on her body she smiled for the warmth felt good upon her skin. Yes in the moment it was peaceful the birds were singing as the lake waters swished back and forth it was moments like this she truly enjoyed.

Another content sigh escaped her lips but her moment was interrupted by the creaking wooden boards of the dock. Someone else was here, which was strange for who would ever come here during the summer. A smile formed at the corner of Bill's lips the moment she heard a familiar voice mumbling and the other voice whispering back. She didn't need to turn her head for sitting right beside her was the Doctor with his fishing rod in hand. Nardole waved to Bill as he sat beside the Doctor with a his tackle box on his lap. While she did find fishing relaxing it was nice to have some company once in awhile.

"So catch anything yet?" The Doctor asked.

"No…I rarely do." Bill replied.

I assumed you would be partying like all the other young adults." The Doctor assumed.

"….Ever since Heather's departure I tend to stay away from scenes like that, beside any adventure with you is much better than any party." Bill answered.

Bill noticed a smile formed across the Doctor's lips this only made Nardole sigh as he shook his head.

"I think you stroked his ego ma'am." The android replied.

This only caused Bill to laugh as the Doctor gave his friend a tern look which prompted Nardole to keep his mouth shut.

Another bout of silence erupted between them as they continued fishing. Soon Bill felt a slight jerk coming from her fishing rod. Nardole gasped in excitement while the Doctor stared. Yet something seemed off about all of this, Bill couldn't put her finger on it but the way the Doctor stared peaked her curiosity. So she pulled out her pocket knife and cut the line. As she looked into the sea she noticed a glowing green light hovering under the water, After a few moments it darted away. She turned to The Doctor who held up his fishing rod with a smile. Bill felt a smile form across her lips as well when she noticed the blue sonic screwdriver at the end of his line.

"Look." The timelord encouraged.

Bill turned back to the sea and noticed a large scaly mass swimming under the water its large fins protruding outward. She then spotted a dozen or so green lights swimming beside it. Bill smiled she was happy to see the creature was alive and well.

"You said what if she falls back into human hands? Well I just make sure she doesn't." The Doctor replied.

The Doctor never ceases to amaze her for he even made something as simple as fishing into an adventure. She stood by what she said those weeks ago he truly is an amazing tutor.
