He didn't know what had changed his mind about her. Maybe it was the fact that her powers had been negated, though as Logan had discovered it didn't bode well to hug her unannounced.
Or maybe it was the fact that the skirt she was wearing didn't appear to be much more than six inches of material, almost made up for by the fact that her flat boots came to her midthigh -almost.
Or perhaps it was the fact that, with the burden of her powers lessened, the looks she had been tossing around had been far from "Rogue" like.
But as Remy LeBeau watched the tall figure walking towards him from the general direction of the band he couldn't help but think that it was really because she was acting like a rogue, afterall.
It had all started earlier that evening...on the one night a week he usually stayed home and acted like a good little mutie, if he wasn't hitting on Jean to watch Scott and Logan squirm.

The knock was light, almost apologetic "It be open".
"Ah'm not interruptin' anything am Ah?"
The girl smiled sweetly at the figure sprawled across the bed
"Non, Remy be just catchin up on his homework Chere."
Rogue smiled a little as she stepped in and closed the door behind her. "Somet'in Gambit can help yo' wit?" She hadn't ever closed the door after she came in his room before, somehow he thought that was against the rules and it made him smile.
"Well Ah was wonderin'...Ah mean if you...Remy are ya goin' out later?"
Gambit gazed at her quizically before he answered "Maybe." Rogue's face brightened "Can Ah come too?" Gambit almost chocked "Yo' gonna be comin' wit Remy, yo' tink dat be a good ide' chere?" Rogue just smiled
"What? Logan's not home."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Rogue watched their faces carefully as she walked down the stairs. Bobby, Peter, heck even Scott looked like they were about to drool on themselves but Remy, Remy just stood there with the charming smile he always had. " Yo' be ready t' go Chere?" Rogue smiled as she hit the last step
"Yeah, Ah'm ready."
Jean look a step forward "Be sure that you two are back by midnight. Remy you had better take good care of her and..." Ororo laid her hand gently on Rogue's shoulder "...Have fun." she finished, smiling at Jean.
Rogue looked at Remy as she returned from requesting a song, his face possesed the same dopy grin that Scott and Bobby had when she walked down the stairs. She had to smile. Wrapping her arms around his neck she gently tugged him towards the dance floor
"What we be doin' Chere?"
"Ah'm dancin'." she smiled up at him "Ah just though Ah'd bring you along."
The band started a slow song as she began to sway with the rythmn of the blues
"Thanks Sugah for bringin' mah here Ah really needed to get out."
Gambit lifted her head from where it rested on his shoulder "Anytime Chere, anytime."
Her eyes, her bright green eyes. Like saphires shinning in the moonlight -though he never would have said that aloud. Which is why it suprised him so much when it slipped out, so unlike him -so unlike Gambit. And Rogue noticed, she always noticed,
"Yah ain't yourself t'night Sugah" s
he smiled, her face so close to his.
"Non." all he could manage to get out. "How come?"
Her arms stretched languidly and wrapped themselves around his neck, felt so natural -so good.
He didn't answer her
"Ah asked a question LeBayou." her voice was a whisper, mixing with the garden air and the soft jazz permeating through the wall she leaned against.
"Because" all he could manage, all he could think "Jus' " he lightly brushed his lips against hers "because."
