Note: I can only imagine we're all fairly excited about the upcoming Star Trek movie, and it has so far struck me as something that could easily translate to another loved, awesome sci-fi property. Mass Effect. So, here's my personal prelude to that (that will come after I've seen the movie) with a few Disruptions-style short stories about the crew of the Normandy.
Mass Effect Disruptions
Chapter 1
Commander Shepard. The heart of the Normandy. A soldier, strategist, and negotiator without equal. A man who has stood against insurmountable odds time and again, and emerged victorious. But what is he really? He is a man who has had to bear the weight of millions of lives upon his shoulders, the responsibility for deaths of those both close and unknown. He has borne the galaxy and its very fate more than once. Borne them without complaint, without being slowed or disheartened. Yet, even in a man such as him, there are limits. Every man has a point that, once reached, no more can heaped upon them without crushing them utterly.
I intend to take him to that point.
Just so we're clear, the Shepard of this story is based off one of my original Sheps (paragon, spacer, war hero, soldier, Talimancer). It will be the slightly alternate, transplanting story of that Shepard (transplanting in that it's basically Mass Effect Into Darkness).
