Slowly Rai rounded the stairwell corner, quickly clearing the hallway. Seeing the hallway was clear for the moment, he brought his wrist up to look at his Tac-Pad.
'12 hours in and still no sign of the rest of the team.' He thought while checking his route through the building.
Rai had a complicated job, find the Superintendent A.I. and protect it at all costs. Rai looked up quickly and checked his surroundings to make sure he wasn't going to get jumped. Satisfied with his check, he faced his Tac-Pad again and quickly planned a route through the rest of the building into the basement, and through the basement into the underground bunker.
"Damn. Still another hour till I get close to the bunker and that A.I." he whispered quietly before standing up and taking off silently, his caseless smg sweeping back and forth across the hallway as he came to intersections.
Suddenly his radar pinged movement ahead to his right, a lot of movement. He slowly crept up to the corner of the next intersection and pulled a snake camera from his side pouch and slid it around the corner and linked it to his helmet. Six of the 'Avians' as the UNSC had taken to calling them stood around taking a break it seemed. One was taking a drink from some kind of bottle. Another was squeezing the contents of a pouch into his mouth. A third was looking down the hall away from Rai. Two more were leaning against the wall deep in conversation. The last one seemed to be taking a quick nap. Thinking quickly Rai quietly unclipped a flashbang and a frag grenade from his belt and carefully set them on the ground. He pulled his m6 from his holster and attached the suppressor and placed it next to the grenades along with his combat knife. He picked up the flashbang and armed it before quickly chucking it around the corner followed shortly by the frag grenade. He waited for the loud thump of the frag before grabbing the knife and pistol and rounded the corner firing at the furthest hostile. The alien jerked as his chest was hit by three shots in quick succession. Turning on his heel slightly Rai fired at the alien that been drinking before throwing his knife at the one eating. He looked around at the hallway turned warzone. There was a small black blast pattern where the flashbang had gone off and a medium sized crater in the concrete floor from the frag grenade. There was a few limbs scattered from the frag and blueish blood streaming down the walls. Carefully he made his way to each alien and put a bullet in each of their heads.
'Never hurts to make sure.' he thought grimly.
He then proceeded to grab his knife and any salvageable tech he could find. His first find was one of those orange wristbands that they all seemed to carry. The next one was a small case of circular discs with a button on the top. The last was a hexagonal box on the waist of an alien. After one more quick search he stowed the items in one of his unused ammunition compartments and started back on his arduous journey. As he made his way deeper into the building he came to an intersection and as was rounding his gun was grabbed. On instinct he threw a hard right hook catching his assailant in the solar plexus. He stopped as he heard an extreme amount of cursing.
'Well. seems like I found Dallas.' he thought tightly.
